There's nothing wrong with FF14.
You're just getting older.
You're starting to realize that humans are different, and that "skill" is not some sort of thing all people are equally open to and have to train the same amount for in order to get.
For example, take arm wrestling.
I'm sure you understand that some people are just stronger than others.
Put a 320 lb man vs. a 85 lb man in an arm wrestling competition and there's no skill involved. It's simply one man with an inherent ability greater than the other man.
Sure, some experience can help if the match is 'more even,' but who cares if the "skill" is basically if you're born with it or not?
FF14 (and all video games) are no different in general, only different in specifics.
Video games mostly rely on hand-eye co-ordination and memorization.
Just like being large and strong, these different specific abilities have a large portion reliant on whether or not you're born with it.
There is also a certain level of experience and learned-ability that can help improve an individual's personal level.
However, just as a 320 lb man will "beat" an 85 lb man in an arm wrestle... there are those who are simply born more in-line with the abilities used when playing video games that will "beat" those who are not born more in-line with the abilities used when playing video games.
This doesn't mean that skill doesn't exist.
It merely goes to show how silly an "elitist" really is... or anyone saying "that game takes no skill."
Of course skill exists, and of course FF14 takes skill.
That skill may come easy to you, or hard to you.
There is no such thing as "an easy game" there is only "an easy game for you, given your current level of specific abilities for that game."
We can even go down to pong.
Simple, easy... says those of us used to playing things like FF14.
But, get someone who was born with a brain deficiency... it may be difficult to even explain the "point" of pong... let alone how to play it.
And the "simple, easy" game is not simple or easy to them, given their current level of specific abilities for that game.
So in measuring FF14, you need to be more specific.
If you want some sort of "as objective as possible" measurement... the only way to do that is to look at how popular the game is. Obviously millions play the game. It's one of the most successful MMO's available today.
Therefore, in an "as objective as possible" way, FF14 is a fantastic game that is extremely fun.
However, that doesn't help you at all.
So, you need to realize that any "as objective as possible" measurement for something that you want something subjective out of ("fun")... is silly.
You should then move to a better measurement... your own personal, subjective measurement.
FF14 very well may not be fun for you.
FF14 very well may be boring for you.
Figure out what 'fun' means to you.
Figure out what 'boring' means to you.
Find a game that meets your requirements.
TL/DR: FF14 is fine, you just need to figure out what you want from a video game and go find it.
