You sound like you'd defend the scholars who would auto follow the tank and let the fairy heal the dungeon. They weren't wiping, so by your definition it's ok. Their enjoyment is letting everyone else finish the run while they watch YouTube. Why should 3 out of 4 people in a run have to do their job while one person gets a pass?

I'd say a more applicable comparison would be like a tank who uses only his DPS rotation and pulls hate only when provoke and ultimatum come off cool down. Did they wipe? Maybe not, but you bet your ass the healer is having a heart attack on the other side of their screen every time a tank buster comes down.

If anything people who play very poorly could open up a PF asking for a carry and if they want to speed things up they could offer an incentive in the form of gil or materia or something.

I wont disagree with bad players opening a PF to get carried or for practice. I think its a good idea to do PF for anything really.. especially hardcore raiding if you dont have a full static. I still dont think you should gamble on party make up by joining pf only to demand something of the people who arrive, beyond cooperation and actually trying to clear the duty. I look at DF as being a casual quick way to jump in game and learn. Thats probably why it offers so much as a reward. I believe PF is for serious groups. If you want top dps or farm parties you should probably take a competent group or you're wasting time anyways.(i run with my wife and fc mates when i play I havent seen a queue in months and havent failed a duty since early 3.0. though i dont really raid much)

I really wasn't even speaking about the blm you're referring to. If they're trolling you, kick them. I don't believe its fair to kick somebody for being a WAR at the start of 4.0 or for trying and doing less dps than a skilled player would, in df. In pf kick all you want.

Good point.

Big thing that people are tying to say, and the OP is failing to grasp, is that while people won't expect you to play at hardcore endgame day 1 savage progression level, they will expect you to have a basic grasp of your job's rotation. That BLM couldn't be bothered to do even that.

It's funny, in the 4 years I've been playing this game, I have yet to experience a VK of any kind and the only time I've seen someone in a group I was in get removed was a BLM doing nothing but spamming blizzard making the run take far longer than needed. Chances are if you are getting VK'd often, you are the problem.

No one is getting kicked over doing 20% less damage than the best of the best.

Hell, in a landscape where 3.5k DPS is pretty average, I would still not kick someone who was pulling like...half that.

People get kicked when they repeatedly spam Straight Shot and when they are asked to maybe attempt a proper rotation, they say "YOU DON'T PAY MY SUB."

I mean, I'm sure they are. I got kicked once for being a war lol. I get what you mean though. Its very rare.

Clearly you do not know how BLM works, Thunder is not 80% of a BLM total damage output... Nowhere near. With only casting thunder, you do not get access to any Astral or umbral buffs to damage or mp regen. You cannot keep up Enochian, you cannot cast fire IV, our Foul. The only proc you get is Tunderhead which gives you an instant cast thunder spell with all the damage out front... Only casting thunder lets the BLM maybe do 10% of their actual damage

Edit: My blm is like...55? I know how to play it at endgame level 50 at least. I KNOW thunder doesnt do 80% of their dps, nor did i ever say so. I think your mixing post together and getting confused.

In any case. Im saying that I dont think somebody performing with real effort should be kicked in a duty finder. Unless that effort is put towards purposefully trolling and causing problems. Or being an asshat towards people.

Then you should have no issue with how this (and other similar situations many other players have had) turned out. Yes, people do get kicked sometimes for no reason. Of course things like that are a terrible representation of the community and should be reproached. But a good number of instances are like the example I gave- a player plays their job horribly, refuses to take advice or to give an explanation, and had a shitty attitude to top it off. I'm sure everyone in the forums has had or will have an experience like this during the course of playing this game. There's no reason to tolerate situations like this in an otherwise awesome game.

I didnt see your post, but i assume you kicked the blm for casting thunder only and getting annoyed at you for trying to speed up the run? If so, I would have kicked them too. I believe vote kick should be reserved for griefers and asshats. I also tend to believe that most people I've encountered believe they're entitled to make demands of others. Some have gone as far as kicking because they see a first time bonus, slightly low dps, and job. In my opinion, its not even worth queuing the df anymore unless you have 2 friends going with you.
