You are kicking people for being new in a place that is created for new people. What a giant contradiction.

See, here is where your argument doesn't fit my situation at all. This Black Mage was not new. He was level 70 running relevant endgame content. You don't get to that level not knowing what the core mechanics of your job are, even if you just spam Palace of the Dead from 1-70. When you willingly play counter intuitive to how the job is supposed to work, you make it that much harder on everyone else in the group. Had the Blm said something along the lines of not knowing exactly what he was doing, my party would have given him a crash course on how it's supposed to work. But well, you know how he responded. It had nothing to do with how long the dungeon would take- rather that we may as well have had only one dps to begin with, and we kicked him because a bad dps is one thing, but a bad dps with a shitty attitude is out of the question.

Good Post Malzian..and a good description of what has happened to MMOs. I used to play D&D back in the 1980s and early 90s with several groups at the local Comic Book store. That is what MMOs where like back in there infancy. A virtual session of D&D. Good times.

What are you being protected from exactly Destatiredux. Did your group wipe over and over. Seems you are trying to force people to play your way. Your group is the one who had no consideration for the person you kicked. You might have actually had to take 2-3 minutes longer to finish the dungeon. You make the person have to repeat the dungeon. You make them feel bad and effect there enjoyment of the game and you also show your not a very nice person..and what for . To save a couple of minutes.

If a BLM is doing mostly Thunder spells, with an occasional low potency nuke, that run is going to take longer than an extra 2-3 minutes. The BLM in question was asked why they were playing the way they did and basically told the party to buzz off. They were underperforming and didn't care. In my book, I'd call that getting carried.

I imagine there is more to it than that. People tend to exaggerate the circumstances of things to make them self look in the right. Thats human nature. I never take either sides account as total truth.

Deliberately means they did it on purpose.
Inability means they can't do it even if they wanted to as they dont know how.

If you want to play the game your way, and expect/force everyone to accept and validate your playstyle and not hold you to any other standard but your own, then playing a multiplayer game isn't for you.

Tell that to the people kicking everyone that plays in anything but their preferred way.

Personally. I think everyones wrong. Both sides of the community act like they expect something from the other. Be it accepting ones playstyle/dps or demanding other to change to suit your taste.
If i told an unknown man in a store this evening "hey your shirts offensive because it has nudity. You need to change it." He'd probably tell me to F$%k off or look at me like I'm stupid because i have no control over him or his wardrobe.

No I'm not. The opinion I hear from several people is if you slow them down from doing dungeons even though its there choice to do them and they are using the duty finder which the reason it even exists is to help new players they are going to kick you from the group. Correct me if I am wrong. I am not talking about a person who causes the group to wipe several times. I am simply talking about a person who is not playing as efficiently as people think they should.

No new player is going to look at BLM and think 'Oh, I should be using lots of thunder magic, along with Scathe and Drain!'. They're either going to be stumbling along with mp management by overcasting Fire spells and being stuck waiting on a mana tick after Transposing, or convincing themselves that only using ice magic is better because they won't run out of mp.

Nobody is going to spam thunder magic out of ignorance, and I'm surprised you're trying to defend that sort of behaviour.
