So you don't see other people in your group as real living people do you. Just a means to and end..a piece of equipment..just another NPC. I don't play the game for that. To me its an experience..And adventure....a story.Look at it from a standpoint of a DPS - if you had a tank who couldn't keep the enemies off you or a healer who couldn't heal would you say the same "well yeah but let them stay out of courtesy" response?
Yes, this is different than dragging a DPS because you can clear 4man content with 1 DPS but that is beside the point, can't reward one role with allowing their bad play and not do it for others.
TBQH, most NPC's are wayyyy more interesting and about as competent as most people I pug dungeons with. If they were any good they'd surely know that MY experience is way more interesting and important than whatever frost wizard self-insert RP that they've got going on. If they don't perform according to expectations then I'll MAKE them, and if they still wont perform then I'll KICK them. Broken tools go in the BIN! Randoms in PUGs aren't real people until they pass my fourteen-question "REAL PERSON or FAKEY BOT" quiz.
Okay, and that's the way you play the game. You can't expect everyone to play for the same reasons.
Moreover, trying to offer advice as to how someone could improve their play isn't rude in and of itself. In the example that we are going back to, the offending BLM was asked why he was just casting thunder, and decided to respond with snark - as a result, the BLM got themselves kicked.
There is no obligation to extend courtesy to another player who refuses to try.

Advice is great..DO it my way or your out of here is not advice..
That's why it's a democracy sir. If the healers wants mass pulls and the dps agree but the tank says no should they have to play to one persons level? To be fair it requires majority to vote someone out. The only unfair kick i could imagine would be a pre-made kicking you just because.
No I'm not. The opinion I hear from several people is if you slow them down from doing dungeons even though its there choice to do them and they are using the duty finder which the reason it even exists is to help new players they are going to kick you from the group. Correct me if I am wrong. I am not talking about a person who causes the group to wipe several times. I am simply talking about a person who is not playing as efficiently as people think they should.
You are missing the point though.
If you had a tank or healer playing with a similar level of ineptitude to the aforementioned BLM a dungeon would basically become imposdible to clear. Mind you they are just as "new and deserving of a chance" as that BLM.
Would you kick them so you can clear or wait out the full 90 minutes of the dungeon and get basically nothing for your time?
Don't dodge the question with some pointless talk of "but feelings" either, I want to know if you would wait 90 mins for nothing just to avoid kicking someone who was playing poorly.
Here's the thing, most won't kick right off the bat. A lot will try to advise on how to improve, and if they refuse to take the advice, THEN they will kick. If they're trying to take on board the advice but struggling, people will usually let it slide outside of Savage/Ex Primals, because at least they're trying. And yes, "Playstyle Difference" is a valid reason to kick. Most players know the DF is a roll of the dice what you'll get, but there's a certain level of performance people will expect from you if you want to stay in that group. Want to derp around being a "Thunder mage"? Ok sure, but take it to PF and state it from the outset. Having trouble performing due to disability? Ok, no problem, just give us a heads up, we'll accommodate. Not 100% sure on the class/duty? Not a problem, let's help you out, just let us know. Yes, you get the odd jerk that is "my playstyle only or kick", but most will give advice and help find a middle ground that is efficient, but doesn't need to be perfect.
Most are willing to give a chance if someone is struggling. Heck, I hate kicking, but if someone gave me the "my sub my way" comment on being given advice, you bet my patience will run thin and I will accept a vote kick prompt that appears. The advice I give is given in a constructive way, that explains a better way in a "Have you tried this?" situation. I also explain why it is better. I give it in a "You may have missed this" tone, which if they don't realise about it, they'll appreciate it.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Only time I seen that an issue was to new healers during late 2.0, otherwise the case of that happening now is very rare. I suspect it is from premade kick abuse when that happens. I seen it a few times but it is def a lot more rarer then compared what new healers had go though while game was late into 2.0, where people expected you be in i120 gear.No I'm not.
