Here's the thing, most won't kick right off the bat. A lot will try to advise on how to improve, and if they refuse to take the advice, THEN they will kick. If they're trying to take on board the advice but struggling, people will usually let it slide outside of Savage/Ex Primals, because at least they're trying. And yes, "Playstyle Difference" is a valid reason to kick. Most players know the DF is a roll of the dice what you'll get, but there's a certain level of performance people will expect from you if you want to stay in that group. Want to derp around being a "Thunder mage"? Ok sure, but take it to PF and state it from the outset. Having trouble performing due to disability? Ok, no problem, just give us a heads up, we'll accommodate. Not 100% sure on the class/duty? Not a problem, let's help you out, just let us know. Yes, you get the odd jerk that is "my playstyle only or kick", but most will give advice and help find a middle ground that is efficient, but doesn't need to be perfect.

Most are willing to give a chance if someone is struggling. Heck, I hate kicking, but if someone gave me the "my sub my way" comment on being given advice, you bet my patience will run thin and I will accept a vote kick prompt that appears. The advice I give is given in a constructive way, that explains a better way in a "Have you tried this?" situation. I also explain why it is better. I give it in a "You may have missed this" tone, which if they don't realise about it, they'll appreciate it.

You can disbelieve me all you like. I was the healer in that party, and it's a healers job to not only watch HP but to watch for who's using what skills and buffs to best support the party, especially as an Astro. It first became apparent to me when on the first boss he never once used fire. By the time we reached the second boss it wasn't just me that had noticed; in fact, the tank was the one to initiate the conversation leading to his kick.

D&D, AD&D, GURPS, Traveller, etc....yep been there, done that, still got my dice and character sheets if I look hard enough. Even played the original MUD, and I mean the game called MUD that was so named for the phrase 'Multi-User Dungeon'. Played text based games, rogue-likes and so forth. I* am old school.

I believe I am quite probably considered a dinosaur, and I really don't care about that.

I used to play Rolemaster a lot to. I agree the journey is more important than the destination. People just rush through the content to the end game these days.

At the very least they should be using party finder so they dont have to get in a queue with somebody else who has been waiting for a likely 20 minutes to join only to kick them.

Why not the other way around? If they wanna play like that, they should be the ones creating a PF, because using a DF doesn't magically give you a pass to hinder your party just because. I still think that because of your mentality is why we can't have nice things. But to each their own I guess.

Who is defending it I am simply saying there is no way to verify that the guy never casted any other spell. Or whether this guy is being completely honest about his story of this person. And if the group never wiped because of it. It simply doesn't matter anyway. DO you know every single spell that every single member in an 8 man group casts. Or even a 4 man. Are you that aware of what every single person is doing every single second. I doubt it.

Actually, depending on how you have your chat filtered, you can check your battle log and see what others are doing. On top of this, you can look at the party list and see what spells people are casting.

But as the vast majority people who play their classes with a basic amount of knowledge and common sense shouldn't be relegated to PF (where AiN won't get their bonus if you join fully preformed) to avoid people like this BLM.

If anything people who play very poorly could open up a PF asking for a carry and if they want to speed things up they could offer an incentive in the form of gil or materia or something.

Yes not wiping is the only thing that matters. Again a person who seems to think what he wants is all that matters. And I point out again which you seem to be ignoring if the group is through the duty finder then new players should be expected. And you should not expect expert play. If you want that. Find your groups in another way.

Apparently what you want is all that matters. You're forcing everyone to think that not wiping is all that does indeed matter. Well think again, and if you play poorly, expect to be kicked the hell outta the group, enough is enough. Don't like it? Play an offline game.
