i like to see what every NPC has to say. this is Final Fantasy, and that has ALWAYS been a thing... dialogue. hell, in most games the NPC's have a rather large amount of things to say for checking multiple times.

if you run around the settlements as you first arrive you can see what they all have to say. you can pretty much guess they are going to have a side-quest. however, what they say as you accept the quest is damn near identical to what they would have said before they themselves had the quest to actually give. nothing really lost there.

but there are indeed other situations as already pointed out here. you have multiple quests going to the NPC for a turn-in. so like... say you have 3 quests total. you hand-in one and then talk to the NPC again. sometimes the NPC will have something relevant to say about the quest you just did. now, you have 2 quests left and you turn-in another one. thing here is that after that, you won't be able to check if that NPC has anything to say that is relevant to your just handed-in quest. it will go directly to hand-in your 3rd quest, completely skipping some (what is assumed to be there anyhow) would-be dialogue.

granted... many would consider these things insignificant, but i would wager those people forget the title on this game. MMORPG or not, dialogue is there for reading... can't read it if it is completely bypassed.
