During the HW relic grind, me and my raiding friends were pulling 16 minute antitower runs. War, sch, brd, blm. Efficiency is just so much fun. When you are so fast that speed is pretty much the only mitigation, the game feels so fluid. It reminds me of good merit parties in ffxi. A good brd, cor or thf(all mains of mine) made the grind so enjoyable. I think not wanting fluidity in a game like this is, for lack of a better word, weird. Everything clicking? Jobs firing on all cylinders? Seeing everyone use all their abilities? Why not?

Most dungeons are structured so that there's plenty of time to restore TP/MP in between decently-sized pulls without having to stop. Notable exceptions include a few stupid pulls in Bardam's Mettle. Single-pulls are both TP and MP inefficient.

For me, it's not about speed, it's about maintaining a consistent flow, which usually results in doing things quickly.

Its fun to speed run IF all 4 members know what they're doing.
Otherwise, slow pace might be safer.(slower is always better than wipe)

I'll give you it's efficient, but is it too much to ask that maybe you check if you have a tank with some relatively great gear before yall try to force us to take like 3 packs of mobs in expert dungeons? I got shredded to shit in Temple of the Fist and Kugane Castle the first time I went through them. I was lucky I had good healers who knew what they were doing.

I dislike speedrunning dungeons on the basis that AoE is the single most boring thing to do.
As an example, compare the actions for a Dragoon performing an optimal single target rotation to the actions required of an optimal AoE rotation.

Personally, I use Dungeons as learning experiences to fine tune my rotations, So speedrun AoE spamfests are not only unhelpful, But downright sleep inducing.
I absolutely understand the desire to get through them as fast as possible though.

Unfortunately for me, I still love the old school "dungeon crawl". Long ass dungeons with large numbers of bosses, minibosses and hidden chests and pathways. That's what I've enjoyed, But the current generation of MMO's dont include them.
Would like to see alternative longer dungeons for those of us that like longer crawls.

    I love it when:

    - When I am doing this dungeon alot of times.
    - When I need to clear the dungeon for a daily reward.
    - When its linear and there is no exploration.
    - When all the party members are able to pull their own weight. I have noticed alot of DPS players doing single damage with a big group.

    I hate it when:

    - New to the dungeon and I want to explore it.
    - When the dungeon has chambers with chests or lore related stuff like books.
    - When I am new to tanking or healing in the dungeon.
    - When I am undergeared as a healer or tank.
    - When DPS players do low damage.

I like to work at the pace of the team. If the party wants to go fast, I will accommodate. If they need more time, I will give them time. Instanced dungeons are a team effort and the whole party needs to agree on the pace and clear accordingly. As for me, I am flexible, and being flexible in terms of pacing is important when working with different parties during dungeon runs. So for me speed is a non-issue but communication can be.

I dont know why anyone would call it speedrunning when you still take more than 15 minutes for content that is released in an outdated state. I mean, dungeons in FFXIV are old content after what, 3 days? Also, this game is mixing Diablo / ARPG elements with theme park MMO elements, so I would assume that the reason so much non-8player content is just autocomplete is because just like Diablo, the challenge is in how FAST you do it, not IF you do it.

Absolutely love it, more so with friends than pug's, because then we know its gonna get wrecked, though sometimes you get that group that just kicks ass.

I remember killing Gubal Hard with my friend (me as a Monk and him as a Ninja) the DRK and AST also went nuts and we killed the whole thing in just about 9 minutes, now that was a fucking spicy run.

I don't think people should feel super pressured or forced to do it, but when done right, nothing beats a kickass speedrun.

its really not even that much to explore in a dungeon outside of the first few leveling ones the others are just literally, just a pathway
