What do you think of speed running dungeons.

I really hate it I really do. Groups won't even give you time to look at the chests at the end of a boss fight. Off they go running through the dungeon . The speed is mostly set by the tanks. Slow down a little bit..enjoy the game a little. Who gets to ever enjoy a dungeon you spend an entire time looking at the Tank running in front of you. And the higher level the dungeon the worse it gets..

That's a self inflicted wound though. I've played since Beta 3, I'm already ilvl 315 and haven't run any dungeon in the game more than 20-30 times in the entire life of the game, except possibly the first 3/4 ARR dungeons, but even then, I don't think it's many more times than that. People choose to run and rerun certain instances to quickly grind out the relics. That will burnout the player on that content for sure. but it's self inflicted. You could just as easily take your time.

I understand your frustrations, but if you want to take your time, you're better off making your own group in PF or with FC members instead of getting upset with random people in DF. If you don't want to do that, then your best bet is just speaking up and asking if the tank can slow down a little.
Actually I think you have that backwards. Duty Finder is expressly there for players who haven't got a group, to find people to group with. It's not there to provide for farming runs. If you want to farm content, use PF to find like minded players and speed run things to your heart's content. Duty Finder provides an avenue for new players and old who don't have a group to run the dungeons - as intended. Duty Roulette even more so as that is really targeted at giving new players a chance to run older content - hence the enhanced reward for running it to attract veterans. Those new players won't benefit from a speed run, a newbie tank (for example) gets nothing from a dungeon were the other three players drag them around like a puppy on a leash.

Dungeons are all the same; trash that does negligible damage on route to a boss encounter. Be it Xelphatol, Ala Mhigo or Antitower. All that changes is the aesthetic and a few mechanics here and there. When the new 4.1 dungeon releases, I'll be able to pull the room day one more than likely. So after a couple runs, it just becomes "another dungeon." Why wouldn't I want to speed that up a bit?

So you can look around and explore it? So other players who *can't* pull the room have a chance to explore it? I totally get that there are many players who prefer speed runs. If that's your preference, that's what Party Finder let's you do. Duty finder ensures that you are randomly matched and there is a decent chance of new players or players who don't like speed running. So speed runs should never be the expectation in Duty Finder. If I were to join your party through PF, I'd expect to do speed runs, I would understand the expectation is that we will pull as much as Miqo'tely possible as we go, and I won't complain at all about that - and I wouldn't expect more than one second chance to step up or be asked to leave if I can't keep up with the group. But in DF, people really need to chill.

I did say "after a couple times." If there is no bonus, I can assume everyone else has cleared the dungeon at least once. You acknowledge Duty Finder parties random people together, thus you shouldn't have any preconceived expectations on how they will handle content. It makes more sense people who want to explore to use Party Finder as that method is specifically designed for players to set their own pace. Regardless, how long is long enough? Two weeks; two months? Majority rule will always set the pace, though the tank and healer have more say with dungeon runs. Oddly, using Party Finder for "practice" or "exploration" is a rare instance where JP and NA play similarly. JP players use Duty Finder to clear content efficiently because it's "rude" to waste time.

how does "many players who prefer speed runs" become "speed runs should never be the expectation"? you should expect both things to be possible especially if you're neither the tank nor the healer because they are the ones that set the expectation.

you have to prove your side to be the supermajority position if you want to tell the minority to stick to Party Finder.

I understand your sentiment, but you have to remember just because you don't like something doesn't mean others shouldn't or cannot like it.

I enjoy the game a lot even though I like to speed run. Not everyone has fun in the same ways.

I find it fun, but if someone really hates it and just speaks up that they want a slower run I don't mind doing it slower as long as majority of the party is fine with it.

So maybe ask your party if it is okay to go a bit slower when you join?

agreed for people who like to enjoy the settings and story this sucks..

But you're in a world of many different people, sometimes all it takes is a "Hey can you wait a bit so i can roll before pulling the next pack?" and they'll give you a couple minutes.

... though as a dragoon main I'm going to let you know, I HATE waiting between pulls. Wastes my dragon eye charges.

I wish this was true more often than not you get friggin' annoying DPS grabbing mobs for you.
Please stop pulling things if the tank does not want to. Go tank if you want to pull more!
I as a tank, ask my healers what they want to do.
A little communication goes a long way.
