What do you think of speed running dungeons.

I really hate it I really do. Groups won't even give you time to look at the chests at the end of a boss fight. Off they go running through the dungeon . The speed is mostly set by the tanks. Slow down a little bit..enjoy the game a little. Who gets to ever enjoy a dungeon you spend an entire time looking at the Tank running in front of you. And the higher level the dungeon the worse it gets..

I understand your sentiment, but you have to remember just because you don't like something doesn't mean others shouldn't or cannot like it.

I enjoy the game a lot even though I like to speed run. Not everyone has fun in the same ways.

I find it fun, but if someone really hates it and just speaks up that they want a slower run I don't mind doing it slower as long as majority of the party is fine with it.

So maybe ask your party if it is okay to go a bit slower when you join?

agreed for people who like to enjoy the settings and story this sucks..

But you're in a world of many different people, sometimes all it takes is a "Hey can you wait a bit so i can roll before pulling the next pack?" and they'll give you a couple minutes.

... though as a dragoon main I'm going to let you know, I HATE waiting between pulls. Wastes my dragon eye charges.

I wish this was true more often than not you get friggin' annoying DPS grabbing mobs for you.
Please stop pulling things if the tank does not want to. Go tank if you want to pull more!
I as a tank, ask my healers what they want to do.
A little communication goes a long way.

This is especially annoying as a healer because if you lag behind to look at loot after a boss sometimes the tank runs off anyway without you and pulls. And sometimes they die. And sometimes they blame you for being slow.

It's also annoying when tanks are determined to make it very difficult to open any chests along the way. I saw a tank blab obscenities at a dps for daring to hope some gear could be in one of the chests among the trash packs, instead of just blindly following him. Seen a healer do similar to a tank and complain at him for taking too long.

I don't hate speed runs, they can be a lot of fun...but this is provided that the tank doesn't act like he's soloing the instance, and that no one starts a hissy fit if you slow down for a moment to look at loot.

    It really depends on my mood, but I generally do not care either way if people want to speed-run a dungeon or take it really slow (I go with "majority rules" here). The only dungeons I absolutely abhor taking slow are Sastasha (unless there is actually a newbie bonus...I've just ran this dungeon so many times it's not funny), Toto-Rak (even with newbie bonus, I want to cry for this dungeon), and ARF (just can't with this dungeon anymore ;_; ). I usually just grit my teeth and deal with the slower runs, but for dungeons that I've been in a bazillion times, I don't have much desire to take them slow. ;_;

It depends on the both the dungeon and the dps. With the SB dungeons and the general dumps to a good portion of AoE skills, I've noticed more and more that single pull runs and speed pull runs seem to take almost the exact same time since healers get far more time to dps in the single pull runs. Then again, it could just be the groups I wind up in....

As a tank in DF though, usually I pull two packs just to keep dps players quiet. Occasionally, I do like to just single pull just to see one of those idiots pull something else only to get trashed. Patience is a virtue, but in FFXIV, it can be a handy source of amusement at some antsy moron's expense.

Can the party do it effectively? Then go for it. If they can't do it effectively...you get the idea

If you ever feel like you're missing out on chests, just stick around after the final boss. You've got like 10 minutes to go back and scavenge everything left behind. You might die once or twice if there were stray packs left on guard, but sometimes you can still get nice things. I've gotten a minion or two doing this, and plenty of junk gear for seals.
