Personally, I say don't bother with it. If your raid is failing a DPS check then replace the weak DPS. It's not your job as tank to make up for low dps. Others will argue with the "tank dps is important" but that's complete crap. Long as you can properly mitigate dmg and hold threat you are doing your job. High DPS is always helpful but it should never be your primary goal.

That's true to some extent but you're taking it to such a silly extreme.

By your logic both Tanks can sit there spamming Flash as long as they do mechanics correctly.

Good luck with enrages and first clears after losing 5000+DPS.

This kinda smells like bait but in case anyone new is reading this, this person doesn't know what they're talking about and I doubt they've raided during the relevant patch at any time in FFXIV. You're not making up for anything when you maximize your DPS, you're just doing your job and being respectful to the other seven people in your party by not slacking.

This is a tricky topic, but for static progression that stance (dps is not tank/healer's job) is definitely not one I'd recommend to anyone. Sure some members in the group might be underperforming, but the more common case is that the whole group just aren't as good as the groups that cleared the fight week 1 in full 320 gear. In the latter case it makes much more sense for everyone in the group to try to make up that lack of dps by gearing up or improving strategies for better dps stance uptime, more healer dps, or just better general uptime for everyone while doing mechanics. It's 100% impossible to clear o4s in full 320 gear if the healers and tanks aren't pushing their dps.

O3s enrage requires 23,500 dps....if healers and tanks did 0 dps, every DPS would need to do 6k dps. That's currently impossible <.<

LB brings up to 2,2k Raid DPS in O3S.

Lol @ all the comments. Seriously? You took what I said and somehow came back to "tanks can stand there and spam flash doing zero dps"? I said turning tanks into a bad dps doesn't help anyone. There are those who will argue against it and say that tank DPS is vital. If those people cleared O4S week 1, then yes they are absolutely right. But for the 95% of the player base that won't clear it for another month or more, that really is not the case.

As to this quote, I never said tanks doing 0 dps. I can gear 100% tank, meaning not fully slotting STR and DH and mostly going tenacity, and still do 2.3-3.2k. If your group needs tanks pushing more dps then that, then your group has a major issue not the tank.

So let's break this down using your numbers. Let's say both tanks do a measly 2.5k dps. Heals do 1.5k. That's 8k off your number which drops us to 15,500. Split that between the dps and you get 3875 each. That is attainable easily right now as most are over 4k. That is also not counting the multiple LB3s you have available. So no, not impossible at all
