{DEVELOPERS} Suggestion for Account-Wide Mounts!

I went back to World of Warcraft for a little bit (fully regretting that decision) and I was reminded of the account-wide mounts and this is the UI they use when you check under the "Collections" tab and you can see all of the minions/mounts you've collected on one character on the account you play.

Now let's say someone is not really happy at their main's progression or just wants to start over with the character completely (I.E. they like the character but they don't remember story or class mechanics) but they really don't want to lose mounts or minions they worked hard to get (I.E. Nightmare) something like this UI or something similar would be an interesting way of solving that. Instead of having the mounts be mailed, have the mount/minion section be something like this! I don't know if others have made topics like this. I just thought I would throw my 2 cents in!

SE's server tech is stuck in Vanilla WoW.

Account-wide everything is something I really wish FFXIV would copy over from World of Warcraft. Mounts, flying progress, unlocked glamours...yeah. That game is really alt-friendly in that regard.

While there are some account-wide mounts, Bennu comes to mind, because this is a roleplaying game it doesn't seem right to have things like Nightmare be account-wide seeing as you unlock through progression.

We also get account-wide mounts from veteran rewards, so theres that, too.

I just can't agree with merging information specific to the character. This exclusivity is part of what makes this game great for roleplay. It's the same logic I use with account-wide house limits; each character has the same set of privileges/rights and having other character effect these whether it be good or bad takes away from the exclusivity.

SE offers us eight characters per world at a price of $2 USD more. Eight might seem like a lot, but SE offers the same exact features you would get if you had one character.

You're allowed to RP if you want to, but the rest of us would like to see a convenience feature that doesn't cater to you guys for once. :P You already put in the work to get it once, and most people don't want to sink another 100 hours or so into getting through it all again. The grindtastic mounts like Nightmare should be a one-and-done deal with the effort it takes to get them. Just don't use those mounts if you don't want to have them as part of your character- don't deny a useful feature for the vast majority of players just because you want to RP.

Alts get no love in this game and that is ridiculous. Not only can't we share things we unlock on our main we are "slapped in the face" and have to buy multiple copies of emotes, dances, clothing and more on Mogstation given so much of what is there is locked to one character per account. I sincerely wish they'd reconsider this policy.

Thing about that is that with how jobs work in this game and how you can play and do everything all on one character, I think it's more a case of alts not just having no love, but having not a lot of reason to exist. Since games like WoW doesn't have a class system working like that, they'd have more reason to implement more account-wide features.

I think devs are aware that alt players are a considerable minority among the playerbase, but I think the boost items are a means of helping to gauge just how many alt players there are.

Wow is behind FFXIV on that, not the opposite o.o

In Wow i had a mage that I had everything i could on it, i made reputation with the most factions i could, i even got the title "the beloved". Decided to make a hunter, everything i did on the mage were gone but mounts >_> Same thing with garrison that i had to start all over again.

When you make an alt on wow you feel like all your months of work are gone just cause u decided to try another class. In FFXIV when you decide to try another class it feels like you're still progressing, cause everything is there and you can even use that class to get things for the other class like tomestones and stuff like that. Everything i do in my ffxiv char feels like i'm moving forward.

There is no much point in alts in FFXIV unless you're a crafter and you want to have more specialists (and even that seems to be gone). If you just want to see the story again, it won't matter much if you have everything or not, you're just having fun in your alt and is going to go back to your main.

I agree with this! Any mount you earn should be part of your "collection" and account-wide. Just because we *can* be everything on one character, doesn't mean we *want* to be. I have an alt purely because I want to level (almost) all the things, but there's no way I could realistically gear them all.

I agree. You can't have different races on one account. I have alts because I want to experience those and I work very hard to be sure my alts are fully leveled and endgame ready. The idea of having to redo everything does get pretty old though. I've sort of come to accept it but it doesn't make me happy. My alts can't even use any of the features of my main's house let alone share content I've unlocked or won such as the mounts suggested by the OP.

I'm not really sure what the harm is of sharing content with alts. It's not like you haven't done the content and won them to begin with.
