    /autoequip and auto guessing

As I switch back and forth in the various classes I'm slowly leveling, I've found myself doing quite a bit of equipment and macro juggling to ensure I've got the latest armor equipped and that my macros reflect these changes.

As such, I have two suggestions that go hand in hand which, I feel, would make managing equipment a little simpler and easier.

The first is /autoequip, /ae. It would work along these lines:
    • /autoeq - equips optimal gear for current class with a focus on defense (default).
    • /autoeq hands str - equips optimal gear for hands, focusing on strength first, where possible, then defense.
    • /autoeq str vit - equips optimal gear for current class, focusing on strength first, vitality next, and finally defense.

If no specific gear slot is designated (hands, head, legs, etc.), by default, it'll go through every slot looking for the best match. Any stat could be used to help focus /autoequip and as many stats as you'd want could be strung together.

The second suggestion is auto guessing or matching. So, instead of typing this:
/equip waist "Dated Voyager's Belt (Green)"
    You'd simple type this:
    /equip waist Voyager
Currently, in the game there are 5 Voyager belts: dated tarred voyager's belt, dated voyager's belt, dated voyager's belt (green), voyager's belt and voyager's belt (green). Making for multiple potential matches.

The first thing that would happen is my inventory would be checked for anything that fits in the waist slot that has voyager in its name. If there is only one match, it gets equipped immediately (as long as my class/level meet that gears minimum requirements).

If I happen to have two or more voyager belts — for whatever reason — the belt best suited for my current class and level is then chosen. If there are two of the same belt, then if one hasn't been spirit bonded gets chosen first, otherwise, either one gets selected.

What these two features accomplish for the player is convenience. I can (and do) spend a few minutes every couple of levels replacing outdated gear and updating macros to match, but making it easier to manage the multitude of gear residing in my inventory and the macros associated with it would be great.

They will have mannequins that you can pre-build with sets of equipment for your different classes which you can do a one-click equip from. It's also said that equipment on these mannequins don't count toward inventory slot. The catch is, that comes in 2.0.

If it were me, I'd default autoequip to highest req/opt level instead of defense. As nice as the idea is, it makes more sense to me that they just remember and re-equip the last gear set you had on a class when you switch to it. Of course, this doesn't help if you don't have that equipment in your inventory. Ultimately, any system to remove the need for equipment macros is an improvement.

2.0 notes mentions an auto-equip feature. I wouldn't expect something as complex with the current coding in the game though. At least not without it taking most of a patch time to work on.

They said somewhere that eventually when we change classes, it'll default back to our last armor set on that class. Which would eliminate the need to have equipment changing macros. I feel that an /autoequip feature would still come in useful.

And I honestly felt that some sort of auto match feature should have been introduced into the game from the get go with all the possible variants for a piece of armor that could exist: Cotton Breeches, Cotton Breeches (Brown), Cotton Breeches (Yellow), Cotton Breeches of Casting, Cotton Breeches of Toiling. And don't even get me started on the HQ versions. Thankful it only goes up to +1 now. o.O
