Expanse Baleen, Synced or Unsynced?

I am trying to get Expanse Baleen so I can craft Endless Expanse Astrometer.

Does anyone know if Expanse Baleen drop from unsynced The Limitless Blue (Extreme)? or do I have to be synced to drop?

you must be synced for it to drop. it's an item that goes into someone's inventory not a loot item. Same goes for Ravana EX and Sephirot EX. After that the crafting items were placed in the treasure chest.

This seems like a weird oversight on SE's part. They had previously adjusted the loot of the ARR primals by adding their synced drops to their respective treasure chests, so it's weird for them to not have applied that to those three primals.

Not fully true, it will drop even in an unsync'd party, but it's based on your relation with RNGesus that day. You can be lucky and it drops the first time you sync, undersync that trial, or you can be just unlucky and have to run it million times. Either way, I don't deny that maybe the chance is higher on sync'd content, but yet there's no evidence for that, at the end it's all about your luck and patience.

It has a pretty lousy drop rate. You could just be getting unlucky.

edit - found this post on reddit which suggests that since the baleen drops directly from killing Bismark, doing it unsynched means it will not drop (ARR primal drops are in the chest now so bypass that issue). https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...xpanse_baleen/

I've seen it drop a few times while synced. Unsynced produced no baleens whatsoever in any runs. I want my fat whale minion

Old primals, like Mog EX have their crafter mats go into the chest. I don't see why SE wouldn't have done so with the newer primals. Maybe they just haven't done it yet? ;-;

It's very likely an oversight, as nidhogg, sophia, zurvan, susano and lakshmi also come from the chest.

Also Nidhogg's scale drops from unsynced runs. The rest I'm not sure about.
