Question about Dps Meta and also PotD

Heya, so I've been mostly playing Rdm since Stormblood started, but I've been hearing that people are ditching Rdms now and I wanted to ask what would be a good dps to play as? I was thinking SAM, but I'm guessing that since it lacks utility people are gonna be ditching it soon so I was thinking of Mch, but perhaps I should do Bard or Nin instead?

Also, while unrelated and I didn't wanna spam the forums with topics, I've been trying to solo PotD with Rdm, but I was wondering if there is a better or easier job to solo PoTD with?

Ninja seems to be always wanted, or at least not unwelcome. Trick Attack plus the enmity altering abilities just make it oh so useful and its damage isn't anything to scoff at either.

Samurai is strong, though monk isn't too far behind and they bring utility so that might be a thought.

I'd honestly say play what you want. Only at the absolute bleeding edge of level where they speedkill for fun is where meta applies. It may help DPS checks at the layman level but a better player on a non meta role is better than a shitter on a meta one.

To answer your question, NIN has never not been meta, and I don't see that changing. The day it does, the servers are gonna go offline. BRD has similarly been super useful, and is currently meta. DRG basically can tag along because of BRD (it has its own merits, but without this it would be meh). MNK/MCH and maybe at a stretch SAM compete for the last slot. MCH obviously works well with DRG and has the highest utility boost out of them all. MNK is very powerful with a bit of utility and SAM is super powerful, but we don't know if that is enough yet.

RDM is fine. It's hilariously good at the level that most players play at- even among the "1%." It might be lacking in the speedkill meta, but in literally every other aspect of the game, it's arguably overpowered.

Bard and Nin are amazingly good too though.

Samurai is super fun and great at both carrying sub-optimal party comps and making insecure DPS upset.

The "meta" seems mainly to be for speedkill DPS league tables rather the progression/first clears.

For world first clears, the RDM was reported to be very helpful due to the res which one of the groups posted (actually better at ressing than the healer jobs thanks to dualcast) and this trickles down to normal player progression too (anecdotally my first o1s clear had both healers die at once but was salvaged by the RDM). Note that the first clears had VIT melded items for the DPS for those first clears.
