But the cards are one of the best parts about AST. The RNG was also alleviated with their new skills. Besides, it's not like it's that crucial to the job.
I don't believe I added any RNG attribute to the GEO I set forth in my idea! The GEO can cast any Geomancy they want at any moment; just added a chain to where if they continuously cast diffent Geomancy the duration of the effect increases. But I understand your opinion on AST and it's luck based mechanics and how you want "that" card!
SE probably has ideas on making Geomancer a reality after mentioning them in the game. For now they're repurposed Conjurers but I can see them evolving it into something unique, maybe add Oracle/Onmyoji characteristic on them since Yoshi mentioned he wanted to add a new job like that, too.
Would be cool if they used a Khakkhara (a monk staff).
Yes! With RDM implementation and how awesome it is in XIV I can't wait to see how they implement GEO and heck even BLU. we'll see! Only 2-3 years to go!SE probably has ideas on making Geomancer a reality after mentioning them in the game. Funny enough, this wouldn't be the first time we've seen a job that eventually became playable, but not like how we had seen it at that time. In Coerthas is when you first see Astrologians. However, they are Ishgardian Astrologians, which were not only nothing like the Sharlayan version that we got, but was even used as a plot element to show how different they are. Geomancer may still be a possibility for FFXIV, however it likely won't be the watered-down Hingan variant we see in the Astrologian questline.
As for this concept, it's not bad for a baseline premise, but could still need to adhere to the applied rules devs have set in the creation of healers. What this concept I think also proves is how hard it can be to make Geomancer a healer, attempting to balance a fine line between something otherwise perceived as the lowly Conjurer and something like this concept, which doesn't really seem to be all that earth-themed short of the blandly-named "GEO-" spells.
Not only that, there's also Arcanists from 1.0 that used unique staves and came back as a playable class using books in 2.0, and instead of Musketeers from 1.0 they released Machinist instead with some connections to the unreleased class in the quests.Funny enough, this wouldn't be the first time we've seen a job that eventually became playable, but not like how we had seen it at that time. Chemist please.
Sorry to burst your bubble, however I do not think Geomancer will be coming out soon, if it is going to come out at all(personally I am a fan of it since FF V).
When I did the ast quest line, I read it as a hint from SE: "Nope, geomancer is not gonna happen." Although I do hope this is a cynical side of me talking...
Cheers,
D.
I still think it would be funny to get a melee healer that works by running up to party members and whacking them over the head with its 'staff of healing' Caduceus weapon.
No healer was added to Stormblood because of apparent reasons that they needed to "balance" the existing ones.
I would much prefer Dancer for healer, but great post nonetheless
