And then they ask, where are all the healers at..

Hello everyone, I just had the worst dungeon run of my 4 months playing FFXIV, I've been playing a healer for the past two weeks got AST to 57 and decided I wanted to try out SCH did a few dungeon runs was having a lot of fun with it no issues until now, I went into a dungeon don't recall name and the tanks health would drop from 80% to 30% in less then 2 seconds this has never happened before I was quite confused we whipped twice because of this and then people started getting rude, I clearly told them I wasn't sure why his health was dropping so quick all he said was less dpsing and more healing.. I'm not one of those dps let tank die healers so idk what happened and had to leave after after a while because even the dps started complaining about me not dps... seriously... I think I won't be playing healer for a bit.

Did you check the tanks item level? Also what dungeon? If you're properly shielding/ healing the tank, it sounds more like his problem with being undergeared or not popping cooldowns.

    Couple things...

    1. Particularly at 65+, old gear is now far behind dungeon gear. Sometimes tanks try them in level 60 gear (I even had to quit the 69 one once because of such a tank), but...
    2. This can happen pre 60 too, especially with newer tanks. And newer healers that aren't in sync'd gear.
Then, finally... 3. The big pull meta. No place in most leveling dungeons but a lot of tanks like to try it anyways. Bonus points if they don't use CDs.

    Welcome to the healer life.

You can't win if you go by how others judge you. Some want you to DPS and scare the heck out of the tank, some want you to only heal, some just won't be happy no matter what. Just do your thing and if people get rude you can mute the chat. If they kick you then fine, no penalty for you and they get to wait for a replacement... if one shows up before they all get bored/frustrated and quit.

Poorly geared tanks who don't use CDs will always be the first to blame you, just so you know. Asking "hey can you use a CD or two you're dropping really fast" isn't unreasonable. The worst they can do is whine at you at which point you just laugh to yourself and curse them to step on legos later or something.

OP - it could be the tank, it could be gear, it could be any number of things. However!
All these should be ignored for the distractions they truly are.
People may even try to throw in internet connections, hardware playing up, cat walking across keyboard (this last one is actually something I did read when healing a group).
All these should be dispensed with, cast aside, they are falsehoods.

    There is only one fault:

    Blame the Healer!

If for some reason you do not see this in your group, you should leave anyway as they are obviously not experienced in mmo's and have a lot to learn.

Just do your research, stay informed and play your role in the way you know to be right. Then you can ignore it when people blame you when you know you're done everything right.

I'm sorry to tell you, but so is the life of a healer. You should heal more, you should focus more on DPS, Tank is undergeared, Tank doesn't use CDs, Tank pulls half the dungeon, make sure to catch up with sprint-tanks... everything is your fault, no one else is ever at fault. The best advice I can give you is: grow thick skin.

By now I do almost all dungeon runs with at least one of my friends, so if I heal or tank and someone feels like he/she needs to be an asshole, it's a kick, simple as that. Even if I run a dungeon alone I leave the party if people think they need to badmouth me, cause why should I care? As tank or healer I can get into any dungeon in under 5 minutes, while they can sit and wait for another healer or tank to join their sorry group. So, don't let other people bring you down, play the best you can and always be kind and open minded, cause thankfully not everyone in this community is like that! There are still tons of people who wish to help others and overall just want to have a good time and enjoy the game.

I can honestly say he wasn't under geared it was a low level dungeon, it's the one that you have to collect two stone tablets and uses them to open the final boss door if I'm not mistaken, I can tell you he was most likely not using CDs, he wasn't even on his tank stance on the first two pulls.

Ah, Qarn. This dungeon is the first introduction that I know of, of "Final Sting". The little hornets in some pulls have a sort of final attack that has them doing upwards of 50% of the maximum health of the tank. They hurt, bad. There are a couple of factors to mitigate this.

    1) DPS the hornets one at a time. Doing all AoE all the time with two hornets in the pull ensures tank death, as both hornets will hit their final sting at about the same time.
    2) Tank should be using cooldowns during and after Final Sting. After a sting, they're going to be really low, so anything to keep them up longer is just common sense.
    3) Prep your big heals. Lustrate if you have it; if not, get ready to spam Physick. You're probably good to throw some DPS out there, but as soon as you see that hornet casting, stop DPS and focus on healing. Make sure your tank is at full health before the cast goes off, even if it means burning Swiftcast to get a Physick out there.

Most importantly, the tank should be stunning at least 1 of the Final Stings.
