All I see is hurr.
Can I have your account? Seriously.
lol i quit during the end of wotg too, was waiting for the last set of missions for ever. mini expansions came out b4 the end was released and i quit. my biggest reason is slow push of content and finally after 5years not feeling like i have things to do ..or least want to do anymore. but i played 700days of gameplay in my time><
it is very sad that this game started off worse then that game, but i just cant' stay till they add the content. already told myself i will never stay in a mmo any more that trickles in content this slow. already ran out of stuff to do, so 2.0 i will awaits. but i can assume it's a pretty solid amount of stuff to do for a new player. ...lol kinda. for sure not like any real well launched game. i'm tooooo used to my mmo's starting off with full expansions released. maybe i need to just stop playing them till they release expansions then i can be happy.
Port Jeuno started to fill up a ton after the first Abyssea expansion came out and saw a sharp decrease in Whitegate. Port Jeuno was initially the only place where you could use the Abyssea npc's to tele to certain areas, but it was since fixed to include the starting nations as well.
Abyssea allowed hardcore and casual gamers to get some great gear back when it came out. Soon after its launch, it was discovered that you could gain exp rapidly while amassing many time extensions. It got seemingly worse when Heroes of Abyssea was added, Dominion Ops could provide some serious bonus exp (5100exp per page was the highest I've seen, on top of exp from the mobs themselves). Abyssea only required a minimum level of 30 so players usually leeched their jobs from 30 to cap in a matter of hours or days.
Long story short, Maat's Cap isn't so far out of reach![]()

To add to what Antanias stated. Aby rendered all other content in the game, from dyna to salvage to assault and beyond an utter joke. Esp since they removed lvl caps. CoP with no lvl cap? Come on. They then 'revamped' dyna and now nyzul and so on but in the process made them a joke as well. All gear we fought so hard for, for yrs was renderred useless compared to pieces of gear you could obtain in a matter of hrs. So all players really have to do now is endless magians trials for gear they have no use for. They did add some new content such as Void Walkers but that turned out to be a disaster. ffxi still has tons of content but its mostly soloable, has 0 challange and can be completed with little to no skill in minutes. Its basically a game for hack and slashers who wanna swing a big sword they didnt earn.
Oh boy, I'm glad I left when I did and have fond memories of it. I only quit because the only PC I had died and I didn't replace it for a year >< By then my LS died out and I lost touch of most everyone. I often remember my time in FFXI as some of my favorite gaming time ever and that is partially why I keep hanging around FFXIV hoping and dreaming it becomes as fun as XI was to me.
Yeah that about sums up what happened to me, but I ended up back here because I always saw the potential in XIV it just needed to be realized.
Wow nice summation of why I quit XI and gave XIV a second chance...
