What is your view on RP or ERP and why is it so taboo within the community?

I was just adding more content to his post like saying about gender identity. Another thing I will add is that there are a lot of girls playing male characters. The only difference is that guys don't notice it cuz girls are not going out there and flirting with another person like guys tend to do when they are playing a female character. I talked to even guys and funny enough they said that they get annoyed and are tired on how many guys hit on them, but they still love playing their female character.

One thing that I noticed is that guys tend to make a good looking female character while girls tend to make a good looking male character. About the RP thing. I don't really care much till those people try to RP with me directly without taking the time to ask me if I RP (which I don't). I remember how unlucky one day I got that random two people approached me IC and started to have a ERP conversation. They just assumed I did RP and ERP because I was talking to a friend who was very active in the "RP community?". My friends don't RP with me even if they are RPers. They tell me their experience and what they work on, but I never participated so I would say people should invest a bit of time before just assuming (of course it is not all RPers doing that but the first impression impacts very strongly and stay with one the longest.)

Another bad experience with RPers. I queued for DF to do my dailies. They were all happy and greet so did I, but they were all friends and from the same server (which I didn't know till way later). They started to have a lot of text and emotes with every skills they did and even talked how they were feeling as we were going in. we didn't even get to the first boss and they killed us 5 times because the healer was very scared and was telling to their group to get out of the dungeon (roleplaying of course) and one of the DPS was "always ready" to go forward and be the brave one aka meaning going ahead of me - the tank- and pulling everything (this was my first time in the dungeon....) and the other DPS was "new" to this new job so he was "still learning his new skills" again RPing all this. I got super annoyed, and I am sorry to say that I got to type in caps and tell them how frustrating I was. My first experience in the dungeon was irritating thanks to their damn idea of making a party of three people and queue together. I told them that I would leave at least they stopped the roleplaying. I didn't sign for their amusement. After that they went quiet and stopped their little game and we finished the dungeon really fast.

As I said, I don't care much, but when they make the others game experience annoying is when they need to stop what they are doing and think on what they are doing wrong and avoid doing it because as much as they paid to play this game, I paid this game to enjoy it in a different aspect as they do.

Agreed about the RPing like that...if they want to do something like that where the three were causing issues, they really should either undersize it, or get a fourth person for it.

I'm not an RPer at all, and never will be. Personally I don't see the allure of it. I am who I am, and won't pretend to be someone/something I'm not.
I also never flirt with anyone because it just isn't me to flirt with someone that I will likely never see ever again(especially online) as I don't like giving the wrong impression. Though, one day when I teleported to Ul'Dah I had someone, without saying anything else, say "You're a girl right?" in /say. There were a few people there, but when I started to move I realized they were facing towards me...I kind of just kept going to do what I was there to do and didn't respond.

What they just care is the character's gender aka they must be female human being outside the game, too ( some people gets too involve and try to make start a relationship without even really trying to get to know the people. I know -from both sides- that guys just assume the gender of the female character and the player with the female character wants to enjoy that relationship since they can't outside the game? so they keep quiet.)

This happened in some RP too. I believe one person mention how drama always follow RP cuz of people assumption without even asking and getting to know more their friend. Your situation sounds like of my friends' experience I mentioned in my previous post. Some of my friends got people talking to them in public chat and in PMs

I don't care what the player gender is for the simple reason it doesn't and shouldn't matter. Men and Women are 2 different words for people really. The gender of the character is all which matters for roleplay purposes.

Honestly even for non roleplay purposes why should it matter? I know I wouldn't want to be treated differently becuase of my gender, whatever it may be. To me it only makes a difference for marriage (I'm so not ready) and Medical issues.

It shows it does a lot to aome people, and I dont think even whem EBing someone , it should matter someone real gender. The character's gender is enough if we follow your logic.

If you want a relationship out of the other player then yeah it would be needed since not all people are attracted to both genders. With respect with you comment about not wanting to be treat it differently. Well in MMOs it is noticeable that female characters will be treat differently by guys. It is not a problem with girls. They will continue seeing you the same. It is mostly just a great number of guys that has this particular problem (because they want to fit in and will do what others do, actually are like that, or just do it for the laughs)

RP will cause many ppl to cringe cuz of the minority RPers screwing other people lives. It is the same as hardcore players and the raiding system.
