I highly doubt that an RPer can think of what they could write as a response to their partner in the span of 2 seconds. I'd give it a minute minimum. RP takes a lot of time.

That's more possible if you're casually talking to someone. And honestly if people have a problem about others talking a lot and talking about harmless things in /say and consider it as spam, then I don't know if these people even considered why the chat exists. People who are like that should just learn to mind their own business.

That was a bit of a stretch on the whole 2 seconds thing but the point still stands that it's obviously far more crowded and therefore chatty on mateus than it used to be and some people may not appreciate it as much. I'm not saying rp is spam or against the tos or anything either.

Absolutely not. Just because someone wants something a certain way does not mean that they can bend the world around them to fit their preferences and punish people who have broken no rules except to be doing something that they merely dislike. Spam bots are not reportable because they fill up the chat logs, they are reportable because they advertise RMTs that break the ToS. There is nothing in the ToS against RPing. In fact, with the addition of RP tags, SE is actually doing more to support RP than they have since the game launched.
I'm not saying they should be reported by any means and yes change does happen. I'm not going to agree with the whole harrassment etc; but his viewpoint probably stems from the quieter environment he's used to being flipped upside down. Change does happen but you also have to understand that there were people there first who adapted to one way of existing on the server before the flood of rpers. I have nothing against rp but no one can deny it's a culture shock to have a bunch of rpers roll in. Imagine a reverse scenario where.. take ul'dah or kugane on balmung (which recently has a massive influx of raiders lets say) and they decide their designated raid talk spots were the same spots that people used as their local rp haunts. So while people would be trying to rp you would be getting a bunch of raiders discussing things causing a hinderance in a place that you would always go to rp in relative peace. I have no doubts people who were trying to rp would be irked as well. Mateus wasn't an rp server before and I feel like if you move somewhere you should be considerate of those who were there first and find some common ground instead of this well we're here now so your server is this and to hell with what you're used to attitude I've picked up so far.

Also there's nothing wrong with role-playing in /say, and if you have a problem with highly interactive /say chat then turn it off or maybe don't play a MMORPG. Maybe solo-gaming is more for you. Also this is from someone who is on Coeurl and has been for the last year.

I personally strongly dislike RPers because I've had bad experiences with them- annoying macros, refusing to break character when they were matched into a dungeon even if it hinders everyone, generally low quality of play from them too. And if you politely ask them to stop spamming the chat with their Super Unique and Cool text, they'll either ignore you or stay IC to berate you. Like come on, I can't mute just you since the feature doesn't exist and I still want to communicate with the rest of the party. Throw me a bone here and just use /echo if you want to see your special snowflake text without spamming the party chat with it. I don't care what people do or how they play the game in pre-made parties or in the overworld, but if you get matched into a group instance, keep it to yourself.

I've overheard serious RP running around towns and such and that doesn't bother me at all. I like seeing people creating stories and rich experiences for themselves. But don't /tell me, don't solicit me, and for the love of god don't stay IC in a dungeon if it means annoying the other three people with you.

I have no problem with RP or ERP at all. Just know there's a time and a place. Using party chat in 4-man content is not the right place. Using party chat in 8-man content is not the right place. Using alliance chat in 24-man content is you just being absurd.

I'm fine with people RPing around cities, but again, there's a limit. No one wants to read your 600 line back and forth about how much you and your SO love each other or w/e. Take that somewhere else or don't be surprised if you try to contact me one day and find out that you're blocked.

Why would you use say chat for it, though? If you're roleplaying with someone, wouldn't it be better to tell or use party chat to not bother others? To me say chat is about comnunicating with other players in proximity about things that are right there (like asking questions of nearby NPCs or talking about a FATE that just happened), not for personal discussions between certain players.

You mean like the others that they RP with, that they are in proximity with, y'know, that are right there as well? If you want to ask questions, or talk about some kind of FATE (?), wouldn't you be better off using shout chat, for a better chance at getting said questions answered?

A lot of roleplayers like something called "walk up RP", which means RP that happens spontaneously. Someone walks up to your character and starts interacting with the RP that's going on, which would be annoying if everything has to go through party chat. If you're that bothered by this, just blacklist them and move on.

I am pro-RP and ERP, but within reason. I don't believe it's taboo, it's just something that other people don't indulge in.

I meant that if I start chatting with another player(s) I would do it in private chat because othetwise I would feel I'd be hogging the public channel for my personal use. But this is not something that would bother me personally, since there is no public RP on my server.

I don't care as long they don't disturb my playtime, in the same way, I don't disturb their RP. Having people dropping a wall of text in a common area is annoying because will force me to turn off /s (or use block), similar to people spamming emotes or skills. About ERP, just keep it private.
