I've finally reached lvl 50 and need to start buying some gear.
Only problem is I have no money. Only about 50k.
What's the best way forward to make myself some gil? Crafting?

Spiritbond, Craft, Gather, Questing, Farming Mobs, all can generate income.
Crafters can sell finished products. Gatherers can sell materials. Battle classes can sell materia. That's the way people generate gil.
I'd say leveling up a DoL is pretty profitable. Especially if you have no intentions of Leveling a DoH.
If you decide to forego crafting, than DoL is all profit. Sell everything you get, even shards, and you'll get lots of money. Once you have fingerprints of the gods. go farm catalysts and you'll be rich. Get miner to 50 and farm cobalt ore and you'll be even more rich.
Keep an eye on provisioning missions too, as the prices of the seal turn in items for other nations can get you easy cash at an inflated price during that item's week.
I'm so tired of how many times this question has been asked. Seriously use the search function it's been asked and answered a million times.
Go to Windurst and farm Beehive Chips and Silk.
