    Impulsive Appraisal II mechanics

    Impulsive Appraisal II
    ...
Additional Effect: 30% - 100% chance Discerning Eye activates
Percentage determined by your perception rating.

    ...

Should read "Percentage determined by your perception rating relative to the level of collectable"

Actually, not sure if it is the level of the collectable or the node. Tested with 1076 perception and found that the proc rate was 100% at the various HW nodes.

Regardless, any idea of the thresholds? Not posted anywhere.

Important for any rotations using Impulsive Appraisal 2

Actually, its not *that* important for rotations using Impulsive Appraisal. IA is 30% chance. IA2 is MINIMUM 30% chance. Its a straight up replacement, once you get IA2 there is never a situation where you'd want to use IA over it.

On a related note, that IA2 can change what rotation you might want to use, especially when it's at 100% (like it is for me on Adamantite Ore).

Previously, I might use the standard 600-CP rotation: DE-MA DE-MA SM-MA (pronounced "Deema Deema Smma") for 459+ (if memory serves) base collectability: 4x the base Collectability of MA. Costs 30 wear and two gathering attempts.

However, when IA2 is at 100%, I like to use this 600CP rotation: UC-IA2 SM-IA2 SM-AI2 MA. This gives 4.2x the base Collectability of MA, and also costs 30 wear and two gathering attempts. Getting 4.2x instead of 4x increases the chance of getting the next level of Scrip reward.

Another possible different rotation: I'm seeing a lot of SB collectable nodes getting an HQ buff that puts me at 100% HQ chance. Unlike HW, an HQ strike now does give you more collectability that an NQ strike (in HW, HQ Vs. NQ made no difference). So when I see I have a guaranteed HQ, I use SM-IA2 (DE/SM)-MA DE-MA, where the DE/SM means use DE is IA2 did not proc and use SM if it did. This gives 447 minimum collectability, but the guaranteed HQ means final collectability will always be over 450, and if the IA2 proc'd, you get an extra gathering attempt versus Deema Deema Smma.

    I'm running 1150 Gather/ 1200 perception BTW.

My post had nothing to do with one version being used over the other. I will edit the original post. The real question is what the perception thresholds are at each collectible level to raise that bonus percentage to proc DE. More testing is required, however it appears that surpassing a certain level brings the bonus percentage to impulsive appraisal 2.

For example, the bonus Proc rates at about 1000 Perception (level 70 ephemeral node) was minimal or completely absent. Once surpassing 1070, The same node Procs roughly twice as much. Leads me to believe that rather than a one to one relationship, the percentage bonuses are granted when surpassing specific perception thresholds (relative to level of collectible).

Just in case you didn't notice, the proc rate for Impulsive Appraisal II will appear in your chat log when you use the skill. The exact percentage for your current stats for the current node. Nice, uh?

Roth is right. Absolute genius madman! Thank you for that! If it comes easily enough, I will post some findings to help folks with thresholds.

Oh, I understood that to be part of your question. However, you also stated :

I was merely pointing out that no, the thresholds are not important rotation-wise. They won't change the rotation in any way, and you won't ever use IA over IA2.

There is a point where IA2 proc rate makes a UC rotation inferior, but it's very situational.

    The only realistic scenarios are:
    • Getting the crazy HQ rate buff on unspoiled level 65/70 nodes, with an IA2 proc rate of at least 50%.
    • Having an IA2 proc rate of at least 80% on the unspoiled level 60 nodes, without a gathering attempt bonus

Here's my info on IA2 percentages (not thresholds, just wrote info at various perception ratings I've reached myself).

    Code:
    IA2	It.66 It.67 It.68 It.69 It.70 It.70*
    1072	52% 41% 35%
    1074	52% 41% 35%
    1086	53% 42% 36%
    1098	54% 43% 36%

    1134	57% 45% 39%

    1199	63% 57% 50%
    1200	63% 57% 50% 44%
    1201	63% 50% 44%
