What do you lose?

• Invigorate? You gain a better skill in the form of a song that increases not only your TP gain, but also the entire party's.
• Blood for Blood? Tested to give a static increase to damage done independent of the skill it is used on. Also only effects first hit in multistage skills. Not an essential buff by a longshot. Negligible difference. This can be confirmed on Carraway's Guide to Archer.
• Second Wind/Cure? Party environment with a WHM who is much more adept at healing than CNJ is at the moment. Coupled with ARC's native damage mitigation skills and overall safety it's not a huge loss. Certainly not one to be brought up on the comparison of being a ranged DD.

I will assume you are not trying to teach me how to play an archer. Because I do have all these skills on my task bars. Of course, they serve me, and me alone.

You seem to be under the impression that on BRD you will simply be standing still repeatedly using song spells to buff the party. The idea behind FFXIV's BRD is clearly that of support DPS as well as party buffs.

This is an awfuly optimistic assessment. You do not even know yet how long these buffs are gonna last, nor anyone else. 4-5 minutes? I can probably live with that. 2 min or less? No, thank you. I'd rather do my main job - shoot arrows.

I'd rather part ways with SE than start playing just the way they want me to. The problem is not wvwn that I don't like to play a support class per se. The problem is that SE informed me that I will have to eventually play a support class or else, 14 months after I bought their box. That will not do.

I'm not lecturing you, but rather discussing. Nobody is the master of ARC just yet. It's likely my most played class at the moment as well. I have every battle class at 50 though, so the perspective I gain from that is valuable as well. Even two players that are very proficient at ARC can have a discussion about their class and it's future. I was simply addressing the only downside to switching to BRD, and how it isn't really much of a downside at all. It seems you'd rather get defensive than address my points in that topic.

I will admit that it is indeed an educated guess - but I often am right when this confident about upcoming patches and their details. That being said, you do bring up a valid point that the duration of the song buffs will make a considerable difference. That same point, as you admit as well, can in fact go the other way. Another thing is the casting time of the songs. If they end up being quick to cast in the fashion Swiftsong currently is, then even a lower duration wouldn't be an issue.

Well this is where you tread into old territory. That very argument became a tired one months ago. Being someone who repeatedly brings up the point of being well-informed, you are well aware, I'm sure, of the drastic changes that occurred on SEs end and how this game - that could very well have shut-down completely after such a failure of a launch - to this day insists on improving. SE made a poll and the players voted, by a landslide, that they would accept drastic changes. SE also gave the players the game for free during those same 14 months. They also gave quite the advanced notice as to the future of the classes and the jobs they will unlock. They really owe nothing more. It sounds almost like you're saying you'll play ARC/BRD as something it isn't being designed to do - and thus incredibly inefficiently - as a screw you to SE. All I'm saying is, the decision is yours, but prepare to be disappointed.

SE hinted at it over half a year ago, they pretty much solidified it at the end of summer, they confirmed it for sure in October. Good bye.
