    Experimenting With Overheat Results...

    I haven't seen a lot on here besides base criticism of the 4.06 changes.

    Decided to run some numbers and this is what I got...

    I did 6 runs of the V4S training dummy. 3 were Overheating EVERY WF and 3 were NEVER OH at all. What I got was as follows;

    il326 - NO Food - NO Pots

    WF Overheating

    I used this opener and rotation:
    (Hypercharge) → Hot Shot (GR) → Split Shot (Reload) → Slug Shot (Flamethrower 5 tick + Overheat) → Split Shot (Rapid FIre + Wildfire) → Clean Shot(QR) → Slug Shot (Reassemble) → Clean Shot (GR) → Cooldown (Ricochet) → Cooldown → (Rook Overload) → Split Shot

    Results were;
    3977
    4161
    4216
    Average: 4118

    This rotation has more burst in WF windows, but is more complicated as you have to use FT to tick into OH.

    NO Overheat
    Hot Shot (Barrel + Reload) -> 1 > 2 > 1 (WF + Reassem) -> 3 (Rapid + Quick) -> 2 (Ricochet) -> 3 (Gauss) -> 1 -> 1/2

    Results were;
    4145
    4018
    4065
    Average: 4076

    Simple execution. Avoids FT and doesn't deal with Lockout

    So by my numbers OH you WFs gets you about a 1% gain. Considering the added complexity of lining up the OH with your Wildfires I'd say it's really not worth the hassel. If you want to min max all day long go for it. The gain is technically there. But still a far cry from a satisfying gain for all the work you have to do.

    If you have any suggestions or additions please feel free to share. Would like to keep this topic civil.

    Thank you.

    While I have no FACTUAL evidence, what I can say is with the same gear (323 MCH) and just OHing repeatedly on the O4S dummy, I personally saw a large increase in my numbers, but that was WITH the same opener and not an opener optimized for not overheating, my opener is optimized so I can ALWAYS overheat my 2nd WF on time, so taking a big portion away from the reason I made it would clearly make it less worth using as an opener than one optimized toward not overheating, so while I personally saw a big increase in numbers, there is simply too many variables in my testing for me to be able to really say anything with positivity.

    While I don't know much about Machinist, I can say that your sample size is way too small to make any conclusions about the strength of the changes. Crit/DH luck and natural damage variance plays too big of a part unless you do a lot more parses. I'm not saying that there is something wrong with the parses, but the sample size is just too low to draw any meaningful conclusions from. You should either whip out Excel and do the maths on potencies or look at FFlogs where you can actually have a decent amount of data points without too much of a hassle, manually doing parses on a dummy is highly unreliable for this kind of stuff. By the way, the real gain seems to be somewhere in the ballpark of 5%.

    On pure math alone OHing your wildfire gives you a near 230 potency increase for that WF over not OHing.

    Not Overheating your Wildfire is like a ~520 potency loss.

    Overheat is definitely noticeably better than it was. It's still relatively small but at the same time it at least feels satisying to me now. But I STILL think MCH needs more buffing to self damage or utiltiy >.<. All they did was fix Overheat.
