That's because the Leonhart gear is actually based on the Dissidia variation of Squall's costume (in turn based on his Kingdom Hearts appearance), rather than his original FFVIII appearance. Squall's original FFVIII costume does not have the feather embellishments (which I presume is meant to call to mind Rinoa's angel wing motif apparently).

As for the OP, as a girl who has a thing for leather/latex wear, I can only support this (there are not enough likes I can give to this thread).

I know, the original image I linked was too large, and was of noctis in the initial versus XIII trailer, and those clothes there WERE designed by nomura and IMO are more akin to what the OP wants.
