I can see this thing you suggested being flooded with people wanting everything for 1 gil.

That is a valid concern and one I can understand. Perhaps then, to draw inspiration from RuneScape's Grand Exchange, a maximum price percentage barrier could be put in place for crafter requests. So let's say the average sell price of an orchestrion is 600k. Let's put the buffer at 10%, you can't offer a payment below 540k. Arbitrary numbers, and would need some tinkering, but it's an idea to toss over.

EDIT: To clarify, it would be based off the selling history (as for items with no sell history at the time, I'm not sure. Perhaps make it so you can't request a crafter make it via the MB until it has sold at least once on the MB?)

EDIT2: Couple more things to add. Perhaps this could be expanded to include like a "shopping list" of items you need, that a crafter can accept the contract for (for example, levequest items from 15-50 on a crafting class). But the contract won't be considered accepted until the items have been provided. There could be extra gil fees involved for the one putting out the contract (thus creating a gil sink too). And, the items made could have a specific identifier added to them that means they CANNOT be resold on the marketboard, should this be a worry of people using this as a means to flip items through convenience.

EDIT3: Something I noticed that I forgot to address before...

Believe it or not, I see some products going for LESS than the cost of the mats themselves. Ehcatl Sealant going for around 150k each on our server. Forager's Wristguards (uses 3 sealant), going for 120k HQ. Funnily enough, I just snapped up that one (need it myself for when my gatherers hit 50)

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

While I'm not totally against this, I'd like to point out a few things that could prove to make this uselss or even a frustrating experience:

    1) Time - We need to take into account that palcing orders doesnt mean they'll be adressed within the next 5 minutes. So it becomes rather useless if you want to craft something right now - could take 5 minutes to 5 weeks until someone comes along and wants to fullfill your request.
    2) Demand - Lets say we have this system, I check the "request board", see that someone wants oak and go out and gather some... and when I come back with my oak 15 minutes late someone else has already fullfilled their need for oak. So now I'm sitting there with stuff I neither want nor need - and sure, I can in theory just sell it, but its still frustrating. (And for something like oak it wouldnt matter to much - but think about crafting something that requires more expensive mats AND sells really slow - it would be really frustrating to craft an orchestrion and then be left with it, for example)
Or would I take up a request and that request is "bound" to me then? Like a quest that no one else can have? If so: For how long? Can I just pick up requests, locking them away from other people?

Seeing how we can essintially do everything by ourself in this game, I dont really see an extreme need for this - but that might be becasue I am doing everything by myself and only using the marketboard for convenince when I dont want to go out and gather some stuff myself. But for that the request board would be totally useless - its most likely always gonna be faster for me to go out and grab those ores myself than wait for someone to find and then fulfill the request.

This is why it would be good for us to have are own personal shops where we can seal things on the go like in FF11 that way you could find someone that is sealing a small stack for cheaper.

Or they could just add a area on the market that only allows you to seal half a stack of items.

Heh all they really need to do is let us buy the amount we want out of a stack. That would fix the problem. This will be especially true if the rumored increase of stack size to 999 happens.

This is never going to happen. People post things in large stack sizes at lower prices because they want you to buy all of them.

This is why I sort of see any attempt at adding a WTB option going the route of GW2's auction house. It stacks offers on specific items and keeps a minimum WTS as well as a maximum WTB. The first person to offer a given WTB price is the first person to get the item if someone sells it at that price, and the first person to offer an item for sale at the lowest WTS price has their merchandise sold first.

I'm not immensely fond of this as it just aggregates all sales into one big machine and makes it fairly easy for people to control certain markets, but its probably the only sane way to filter requests for a WTB system.
