Welp... Time to change that lore! 2017! 2017! 2017!http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post490835

Okay seriously though I still can only take that with answer with a grain of salt since Miqo'te males were "rare". So "rare" that they couldn't even be seen by the players. Now Miqo'te men are everywhere. And there are a lot of NPCs around too. Even a good bunch in Kugane!
Yes Belhi that was where I was getting at.

Well, if any of the Ishgardian Hyur we saw could turn into dragons upon drinking dragons blood then that would be conclusive proof that Elezan and Hyur can produce fertile offspring.
But that's the thing, do we see any Hyur Heretics turn into a lesser dragon? I don't know for sure. That would basically be instant proof of fertile crossbreeds since all the knights of King Thordan were indeed Elezan.
Perhaps it would be a mistake on the developers part if one of the Heretics using a Hyur model turned into a lesser dragon. But in the absence of an assured answer, it would be as good a proof as any.
Pre-Calamity.
I don't know if there's any official word on this, but it's a pretty logical conclusion that the increase in the presence of Miqo'te males is a result of the Calamity and the impact that has had on various societies.
That being said, if you plan on dismissing so quickly answers provided by one the individuals that helps create the world's lore, you're certainly in for a fun time.
I don't believe everything they say because on many occasions did they say for example, that something won't ever happen then all of a sudden it happens(Ex. No invisible shields would ever be added to the game because of obvious lore and animation reasons then nect patch it's released lol)Pre-Calamity.

A perfect example is the lore that was retconned for Nael Deus Darnus. All I'm saying is, things are always open to change. Just like how Au Ra decided they wanted to exist.

I thought Nael was less a retcon and more a translation error gone horribly wrong. Non-gendered pronouns in the JP version, male pronouns in EN, suddenly revealed to be a female under the mask. Oh crap, said the EN team.
Thus the Eula switcheroo.

It comes down to how big the offspring. In the idea of horses for example you can breed shires (the second largest breed) with shetlands( the second smallest) with a shire farther and shetland mother though the danger comes the child birth to the mother.
So races like Hyur elezen miqo'te and aura (seeing it seems to be puberty when male aura shoot up where females stay small) would have no problem cross breeding. Lala's I picture have to stick to lala partners for children as the female are not much bigger then a human child so a human sized baby would be a large problem for her. And carrying the child alone could be deadly. As for roes we have yet to see Roe children to get an idea of how big they are. If there like the Aura and seem to be similar to human size them spurt up at puberty it could be possible but looking at the hip span of female roes I picture the kids to be pretty big.

There actually is an explanation regarding crossbreeding and harming the mother. It was talked about earlier in the thread, with mentioning how they usually take after the mother primarily. This is how, for example, a Lalafell could crossbreed with a Roegadyn. The baby would still be Lalafell sized, even if it would take on some Roegadyn characteristics. That being said, it's likely that there would be a decent chance of mechanical dysfunction regarding such a pairing, but that's another issue entirely. Despite their rarity, I would love for them to be available as player options at some point, since player characters have a larger justification to be 'special'.
Psh.. Simple. Get a Roegadyn woman and a Lalafell jock. Put the Roe on her back, Lalafell latches on like a leech, and watch science happen.
