Isn't that obvious? You'll get enough tickets to buy one of the weapons. Meanwhile, anyone outside the top 10 will have to wait another season. And if you're skilled enough to reach the top 10 during this season, you should have a good shot at reaching the top 10 again, getting you enough tickets to get a second weapon, while everyone else will only have enough for just one.

But you don't have to get top 10 at all to do that, just participate every season to get enough tickets. You never have to touch top 10 at all. do a lot of people even have more than one main or the want for more than one weapon? Couldn't they just participate each season for said weapon? What does it matter whether you get it this season, next season or even in three seasons if you can always get it eventually?
I personally have no need for two weapons so I can't quite see the point in my getting top 10 just for a weapon I can get by participation, a lot of extra work that isn't really worth the reward.

Well yea, because the ticket system is designed to be separate from the actual ranking.
You're playing an MMO that allows players to play every single job on a single character. Yes, there are a lot of players that play multiple jobs. Yes, there are a lot of players who would want more of those weapons for glamour.Originally Posted by Cynric

What does it matter whether someone gets an expensively crafted glamour now, or 6 months from now? What does it matter whether someone gets a v4s weapon now, or 6 months from now? Being able to show off something unique, and being 1 of the 10 players in a datacenter that has something much, much sooner. That's a pretty big deal for a lot of players.Originally Posted by Cynric

Then you clearly don't care as much for glamour, which makes me wonder if you find the armor set worth going for as well.Originally Posted by Cynric

You realize his glamour is the top 100 gear from Season 1 of Feast, right? Glamour is a big deal, and what makes glamour even better? Glamour other people can't get. PVP is about winning, bragging rights, and respect---and it's built into the rewards system (I think that's great!).
He's saying that the top 10 reward should be more prestigious, but it's not, because it's something he (and anyone else) will eventually get just by participating. There's nothing to compete for at that high of a level, at least nothing worth the amount of skill/time/stress, so why try?

I don't go around checking the lodestone pages of random people on the forums, sorry.
And you'll have bragging rights with just 9 others on your datacenter, for an entire season. We also don't know how many tickets are rewarded for each tier, and how much the weapons will cost, meaning we don't know how many players will be able to buy one after the next season.Originally Posted by Nirokun

Didn't you just say that PvP is about winning, bragging rights and respect? Surely becoming top 10 is all about winning, giving you the ability to brag about ending up in the top 10, possibly gaining the respect from other PvPers.Originally Posted by Nirokun

But I suppose they could always just remove the hat from the top 100 set, and set it as a top 10 reward. Just like the previous armor sets.
this whole thread is a joke tbh, top 100 per server? there isn't even a 100 players on zodiark looooooooooooool please let this thread die along with its ignorance

Think I'm just gonna do what Yoruno said. This is a pointless conversation. Rewards you get for being 1-100 on the board are exclusive, no one can get them. Rewards you get for being 1-10 are not, everyone can get them. That's an imbalance. You work harder for less.
There's no point in bragging about anything, if that's the reason you go for the top 10 spot then do you, but it's not worth the effort just to be able to "brag" for a season. Plus I don't see what there is to brag about in this mess we call 4v4, and I say that as someone who has hit Top 100 at least.
So basically your point about him not caring about glamour was destroyed, ok great.I don't go around checking the lodestone pages of random people on the forums, sorry.

You just described the ticket system, ok great. For the record, I don't think I'm good enough for Top10 (and I'm completely okay with that!), but the statement that was made was that Top10, the cream of the crop, arent being rewarded handsomely enough. Their accomplishments will effectively be rendered null by a sea of counterfeits in time, which makes it feel like a wasted effort. That is not a way to treat a winner, by allowing/providing counterfeit trophies, that's deplorable.
Yes, I feel like S1/S2 were the only seasons to get top 10 correctly because the crowns were showy and very limited. Part of the reason S3 and S4 were so loathed was because the top 10 reward was changed and given out to everyone for a minor accomplishment, and replaced by an earring--ugly and practically invisible.

You're right, it's a pointless conversation, as you don't seem to understand that the weapons weren't designed as rank 1-10 rewards. They were designed for the ticket system.
Don't look at me on that one. Nirokun is the one that mentioned PvP being about bragging rights.Originally Posted by Cynric

How exactly was my point destroyed? He questioned whether people needed more than one weapon, and that it's not worth the effort to get a glamour piece earlier than the vast majority of the playerbase.
But I suppose I should've said "He doesn't care about glamours as much" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
