Yeah we need like, to remove the exp from ranked and gate it somehow, this is more than a little annoying.

Yeah we need like, to remove the exp from ranked and gate it somehow, this is more than a little annoying.
Here's the thing:
The old system was perfectly accessible. The issue was many didn't want to try (i.e. "I hate PvP in any game", "Lol, there's PvP in this game?", "PvP is toxic, that's why I don't play it" [from someone who's never tried it]).
Many didn't want to learn (i.e. "You don't pay my sub", "Who cares, it's not a serious competitive mode anyways", "I'm just here for the XP").
People claim there were too many buttons, but it was just 6 extra PvP skills - not all of which were needed, depending on your job - and the rest of your standard PvE kit - again, not all of which was needed. I disproved that statement using my own hotbars I used back then. I ran 3, only one specifically with PvP skills. If I got rid of redundant or unneeded skills, I could've easily ran 2 horbars, fit those 6 PvP skills in, and still have room to spare.
The biggest disappointment is people - both SE and players - try to defend that they look at data and player feedback to determine changes. . . Go take a look at "The New Chat Restriction In The Feast" then tell me they listen to feedback. Look at the number of "veteran" players that have declined and almost disappeared now - the ones that actively played and enjoyed 3.x PvP and if anyone, were the ones that should've been heard. Had they truly looked at data and player feedback, we would not have the system we have now. A system that - while it does have good aspects - is entirely different from what attracted and kept those players playing in the first place. And for those of us that were playing and enjoying it - however imperfect it was - we now feel completely disregarded when it comes to "player feedback". And this is hardly the first time it's happened.
I honestly can't see how SE will balance the new pvp system without catering Frontline and/or Feast together. Because different class are very strong on different game mode.
For example, MCH is super strong in frontline but in Feast, no kill potential as healer just need 1 cure 2 to just heal the targets from MCH full burst combo
Honestly, I would prefer the old PvP system. The status diminishing such as 'Stun', 'Sleep' etc was a fun part where you need to remember the timer where after 1 minute they reset the status diminishing which is similar to 'League of Legend' Summoner spell timer which needed to write down for the team to take advantages.
Its cool that SE now gives us the new system where the diminishing timer are shown which it really kills one of the fun part of competitive game play imo.
For the Ranked 4 Fixed party, I probably think its our fault because of us reporting 'Win Trader' too much where SE decided to remove the game mode to be more productive in handling reports instead of those Match Fixing. It was a very fun game mode for me because I'm an english speaker which have little to none knowledge on Japanese language. It was fun trying to communicate with my fellow JP players through discord when we teaming up playing with each other team.
So, I remember Yoshida wanted to have E-Sport for this game, but from old pvp system which is very coordinated to a new system which is face rolling button smashing gameplay. Seems fun to watch.
I understand that SE is trying to cater the new players, but in the meantime, all my close pvp friends are losing interest including me towards the new pvp system.![]()
And this is where the problem truly lies. It's a terrible risk, and generally bad idea to completely alienate or throw away a target market in an attempt to make a mass appeal.
PvP isn't for everyone, and we understand and accept that. But now it's not even for us PvPers who were enjoying it in the first place.

Haven't touched this garbage since it dropped. I speak with my participation. Bots everywhere, people who still suck at it despite literally having 4-6 DPS buttons to mongo mash, class imbalance out the wazoo... I knew as soon as 4.0 dropped that this "revamp" was gonna be melted feces, but people on the forums kept insisting I had to "give it a chance" for some arbitrary reason.
I used to encourage new players to try PVP. Gave them pointers, never flamed despite my irritation, and mostly tried to keep a positive attitude in FLs and 8s. And I was fine with that, because they were coming in and trying to learn I guess what you could call "our" PVP, with the CC and burst windows and each classes' escapes/displacements/utility that have all since been mostly removed...because of players who had no interest in even trying the mode before they added exp to it.
Just utterly infuriating, and seeing threads like these with people who can somehow remember their keybinds in PVE but magically lose eight of their ten fingers suddenly when playing PVP and are defending this change only enforces my decision to never touch the garbage again.

I like both old and new systems.
The fact is regardless what system is used you will always have people who don't bother to fully learn their classes. It happens in PvE and in PvP.
You simply cannot change the people playing..
"Within each of us, the potential for great power waits to be released."
So you ruin it for the people who actually liked PVP for PVP and kill their ability to carry outside of 8 buttons meanwhile players who are mainly PVE are still trash? Remove rewards, exp, tomes and let's see who STILL sticks around. I guarantee 90% the people here on the OF will go back to PoTD.
Can't wait for black desert online to come to console. Maybe they'll listen to their players.

Complaining about it won't change it, bringing back the old system won't change it, they were playing horribly then too. You will always have the problem. What you can do, is not play the PvP if it bothers you THAT much.
Or like you said keep on waiting on black desert (giggle) coming to consoles.
"Within each of us, the potential for great power waits to be released."
No you can't, but then why would you take the weapons away of the people who actually had the ability to carry a game and those players? This whole change is pointless then going by your point?
I'm not sure how I feel about a grown man giggling but I can tell you never really cared for PVP. Just another OF knight.
I hope SE are taking feedback on this new PvP system. They've reduced the amount of buttons from ~40 to a very small 9 and yet people are performing even worse than before.
Changing your combat system to cater to the lowest common denominator does nothing but annoy the players who are even slightly above the lowest skill bracket. Reducing the number of buttons to make things easier has proven to do absolutely nothing to improve players damage/healing output. Bad players will never learn to get better if they don't take the step forward themselves to do it - it doesn't matter how much you change your combat system, the bad players just won't take the time to learn it and never have.
Also - for those saying the new system is more "accessible", that's just completely false. Before, the PvP and PvE rotations would largely be the same, with the exception of just choosing the right time to blow your OGCD's vs a good healer. Now there's entire new effects on some Actions most players just won't take the time to learn.
