Moving to UK from USA - PS4 format

My husband and I are moving to the UK from the US, yay! I play on PC, so aside from switching to an EU server, I think I'm good to go.

My husband plays on PS4 so we will have to buy a new PS4 over there and get a PAL version of the game. Will we need to get a brand new copy of the game or will a used game disk work? Is there anything we will need to do to change the account because of the move?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    - PS4 is region free. All discs from all over the world will work on any region's console. Keep using your existing disc.
    - Your square enix account, i.e. FFXIV account, is locked to the PSN ID you initially registered the game with. It can be unlocked through SE customer support, but I've heard nightmare stories of how long it takes.
    - PSN accounts are region free as well; many people have one from a different region.
    - You will have to buy USA credit / game time to continue using your existing account; even if you transfer your character to an EU server, your lodestone account is locked to the USA.

In short: Keep your current PS4 and game disc, you will probably need to buy a replacement power cord, buy US game time online and that's it.

Edit: Forgot to mention one other critical thing; the US and PAL territories like the UK use different power watt's, the UK uses 220-240v, while the US I believe is much less. To avoid blowing up your existing PS4 and any other electrical items, you'll need a 'step down' power converter, in addition to appropriate power cords.

I can confirm that PS4 (and PS3) no longer need a stepdown converter in countries like the UK. They come with universal power supplies, thankfully, so you just need a travel adapter for the plug or ideally, a replacement power cable (easily obtained for peanuts since it's a generic type).

Everything else Ash_ said is 100% accurate. The only advantage to buying a local PS4 is that you can play local Blu-ray/DVD discs since the UK is in a silly region, but if you already have a collection or don't care then it's better to stick with your current PS4 and pick up a cheap local BD player if you decide you want to buy discs in your new home too.

First of all, let me offer you my warmest welcome to our little island. Why you'd want to move here I will never know, but alas, it is what it is.

Now, onto the meat and bones of the situation, while I can't answer about the PS4 side of things, you will want to link a Steam account up your PC account, such that you can pay via Steam Wallet, through PayPal I believe (since PayPal can handle the currency conversions). Mog Station is fickle and if you're on an NA service account, if you try to pay directly through a UK debit card, Mog Station will nope out on you. Same for however you pay for the sub on the PS4, if you can buy it through PSN and PSN supports PayPal, get a PayPal account going for your husband too.

Btw, if you're planning on moving to an EU realm, I play on the EU realm Louisoix, which has free trasnfers to it as it is considered a "New World". This way you can get some friends to play with right off the bat.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

This is just a guess but couldn't they get around that by just buying the USA versions online? I'm sure I've seen a bunch of blu-rays on Amazon where you have to select which region you want when you buy it.

For PS+, they can probably buy NA codes online, but that's only if they play games that need it. XIV doesn't require a PS+ sub

    I'm also on Louie! o/
If you do decide to hop servers, OP, and end up on Louisoix, feel free to hit me up for dungeons and trials and just general chatter

There is/were restrictions on what region the discs could be sent to. I don't know if this is across the board or controlled by the content owner. I know I've gotten orders rejected when I've tried to order some European titles to the US even though I have a device capable of playing them.
