As the title saysm, it doesn't seem my DoTs are Direct Hitting and it's made me question whether I should be prioritizing DH or Det as my secondary stat after Crit. Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.

DoTs do direct hit, yes.
If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!
Do DoTs snapshot your crit and buffs or change with your current status?
It doesn't really tell you much, it just........you kind of tell by the numbers it pushed. Well it would be nice if it does the same as the procs when you do a WS/Spell/ability that it lets you know you are doing a DH by a obvious big number or a "!" from a crit. .........you know what, I wonder why that never asked to be in a QoL patch?
Probably because the DoT damage is displayed as the sum of all your DoT hits.It doesn't really tell you much, it just........you kind of tell by the numbers it pushed. With 2 DoTs a tick can consist of
1) normal+normal
2) crit+normal
3) dhit+normal
4) dhcrit+normal
5) crit+crit
6) dhcrit+crit
7) dhcrit+dhcrit
etc...

I've never seen a dot tick being Direct Hit, only the initial damage if the skill has one.
Tested it with aero, salted earth, bio and miasma
It seems to me people only assume it direct hits, for whatever reason. I haven't actually seen any evidence of it myself. I'd wager that dots DON'T direct hit, and is one of the reasons some classes are finding stacking dhit actually ISN'T optimal.
Dots can direct hit, as well as critical direct hit. This is simple to test by just DoTing a dummy and looking at the numbers that appear (just use one dot to reduce variance).
Eventually you will get a feel for what the baseline normal hit tick is, give or take the 5 (or was it 10%) natural damage variance. You will see values that go beyond these corresponding to the 1.25x direct hit multiplier, 1.40x (or higher) critical hit multiplier, and a few monster ticks with a 1.75x or higher multiplier corresponding to critical direct hits.
So why does the parser always show 0% dh on dots?
