    To quote my post in the other thread:

    I'm hoping for better changes for 4.1. The current potency changes to the dots, given that they make up for about 20% of our dps and were increased in potency by 25%, results in a 5% dps increase which will help all summoners. Sure, it's not what we're looking for, but hopefully 4.1 brings something better. I'm just as disappointed as everyone else and I will be legit pissed if nothing good comes of 4.1. I don't wanna be like this for an entire expansion.

    What is concerning (not discounting all the other SMN problems) is that we're the class with the lowest clear rate for O3S and onwards behind both Machinists and Black Mages. For me, that stat was a little unbelievable, but it's true. See for yourself:

    Actually from doing the math on my own logs, 18% of my damage was my dots. so it's in the 3-5% range as someone else said.

    Hoping that they're saving any drastic changes are simply being saved for when new Egi glamours come out. So they can be "OMG look new shiny summoner!"
    Because potency buffs aren't going to fix their predicament at all.

    20 potency over ~30 seconds is roughly 600 potency, which is nice and all, but a raw damage buff feels like a band-aid more than anything.

    The issue is that contagion is one of the strongest buffs in the game but no one runs caster comps so embolden wins. Caster comps will most likely never be a thing due to RDM being a caster that doesn't synergize with other casters. Around 20% of RDMs DPS is physical.
    There's like way more than just RDM keeping caster comps from being viable.

    on-topic : Summoner buffs were meh but expected, they said only potency buffs till they can make more systematic changes to the job itself.

    Yeah buffing the Dots won't fix that frantic rotation

    Obviously but yes, this is part of it. Physical DPS either provide stronger raid buffs or do more DPS than casters. Also Tank DPS > Healer DPS.

    There lies the problem. Shouldnt have to wait for the big patches to address a classes issues. Should fix some of the issues now then the rest with the big patch. Not just give the class a band-aid fix and hope that suffices while making them wait another month or more.

    They said the major changes will take time to implement in the game, so I'm guessing they're going to do that in 4.1. Right now it's just a few tweaks here and there but nothing major in the gameplay.
