What ever gave you that impression? Ixion spawned every 72 hours in the same spot where people just camped for hours on end. There was never anything special nor rare about the mount. They changed it so people would stop camping.

While I understand that it wasn't "rare" per se.... many people went through frustration to camp it for 2 horns a pop. It's weird but hey I'm an Ixion fan.

And the camping was causing instability, zone lockouts and the need to add extra instances. People getting 3 times the reward is a much more elegant solution than making the fate have separate timers in 3 instances. The sooner we get rid of instances the better.
