He immidiately gets a set of iLvl 115 gear at level 50. It seems he is a little OP for the level. Comparing him with my 51 Summoner
Summoner HP 3085...MP 3330... Int 407...Vit 285... Gear 70
Red Mage HP 4888...MP 3192...Int 527...Vit 416...Gear 100

Oh maybe not..My 51 Scholar is
HP 4217...MP 4701...Int 257...Vit 360...Mind 452...Gear 77
The Red Mage needs all those HPs because he doesn't have a pet or a way of healing yet...I guess.
Just suprised to get that high of level gear at level 50.

Did you equip your 51 summoner with i115 gear to verify? Gear is the biggest affector of stats in this game.
I don't have any gear that high yet for my summoner. Thats the reason I think they are a little OP when you first are able to obtain the class because you get ilvl 115 gear at level 50. I am a relatively new player . But that high of level gear is not easily obtainable at level 50. I could be wrong about that however. Thats the first thing the guy gives you is a coffer full of 115 gear and a red mage soul.
115 is the baseline level for heavensward lv50 gear. Its vendor stuff you can buy from Ishgard if you so choose.![]()
okay well that explains it. I have not got to Heavensward content. I am about half way through the content between ARR and Heavensward when I decided to open up the Red Mage Class. Maybe it would be better if they made the requirement for the class... level 50 and the first Heavensward quest completed instead of just level 50.

You can pick up Ironworks gear using poetics tomestones that is better than the ilvl 115 gear for both classes if you wish.
we explained that to the OP already 2 topics down lol.
But to the OP, SMN in comparison will feel weaker no matter what gear you're putting on it, why? because it's nerfed since SB and red mage as well as samurai were their jobs that sold the expansion. But while they are better, they are still not OP. I played SMN in 3.x and switched now to Red Mage as dps, when not playing tank or heals. I don't regret it.
Maybe not.
White Mage LV 52 with ILVL 110 set:
HP: 5381
MP: 4473
Mind: 557
Vit: 424
Maybe it is just a matter of getting better gear for your SMN. Besides poetics, you can get those PVP ones, that's pretty cheap for lvl 50.

Your stats vary with gear (and to a tiny degree, race). If you have a RDM and SMN at 50, same race, gender, clan, no gear, same weapon family (ex, both wearing Ironworks weapons) no food buffs, they will have the exact same HP and INT values. RDM is overtuned for old content because they have Deathflare on a 30 second off-global CD super early on. :P They also have most of their potent spells already, while SMN has to wait until later levels to get fun stuff like Deathflare, Bahamut-egi, max upgraded DoTs, etc. RDM gets upgraded with levels too but the nature of how it plays means that it just machine guns high-potency spells from the start while SMN needs to ramp up a little longer.
