I only want them to update old content if they make it relevant again at higher level, otherwise I don't see the point.

Honestly when first doing the dungeons they weren't that bad. Except for TotoRak and Stone vigil...And Aurum vale even though technically that one's optional. The real problem was the absolutely ABSURD number of fluff and filler fetch quests before each main step in the story tied into the main scenario.
Main scenario: "Hey, the kobolds are trying to summon titan."
You: "Oh no! What are we gonna do?"
Main Scenaio: "We're going to think of a way to get there and stop them...make yourself busy in the meantime by helping these people who have nothing to do with this."
You: "...By doing what?"
Main Scenario: "Their chores. Hop to it lackey!"
If there's anything that needs a revamp it's the removal of SO MUCH FILLER.
I think the people who want the new shiny, outweigh the people who want them to go back and polish the old penny.
Besides, I myself as a person who has started from scratch, likes the weight and the gravity of how things progress. Unlocking flying in ARR would not have the same impact as to why and how it was unlocked in ARR, heck it was MOTIVATION to get into HW in the first place. The other difference are that the maps in HW are much bigger in scope than ARR so flying made much more sense in that regard. What I would like them to revamp is separating Summoner from Archanist and make it its own job (I dont even level SUM and i think it just causes problems.) They (SE) wanted to get rid of the whole Job/class system anyway, so separating SUM is just half of the battle.
Flesh grows weak. Steel becomes brittle. But the will is indomitable.
The only thing I'd like is the option to use some of the pre-4.0 abilities when synced down to 60 or below.
Some of the 50 content is pretty painful to go through without them, it might not have been that much but they definitely helped.
They could even limit it to premade parties so that it doesn't mess with DF, but unfortunately I think it might be a bit too much work for them.
Well, if they decided to update the old ARR content, what they should do is clean out the ARR MSQ of all the fetch quests and make it more about the story like in HW and SB. They REALLY need to do something about the last two 2.0 MSQ dungeons, too.
Other than that...I guess the ARR areas need updating like make the cities only one zone and maybe make the outside areas a bit larger while adding more neat areas and also new content into them at higher levels so there's relevance.
fixed it a bit ^^Main scenario: "Hey, the kobolds are trying to summon titan."

This. One reason is to make the game more approachable for new players without having to rely on the cash shop skip. ARR's MSQ is still pretty damn atrocious, as well as the pacing of the game in general. "It gets better" should be no subsitute for something that should be good throughout.
The post 50 MSQ grind is basically the sales pitch for jump potions, and it's massively effective.
The MSQ story could use some smoothing out all over. HW's story was worlds better by comparison.
Depends on what they're revamping. For most things it would take development time and resources that I would rather see go to other content, however if there's a positive change that can be made by tweaking one number then I'm for it.
For example: Aurum Vale. If they made it synch to level 50 it would be an improvement, the dungeon will go smoother and be less jarring to get in a roulette if you have a full level 50 kit.
That train left the station a very long time ago and time has passed. I wouldn't sacrifice new content for revamping old content, because that never works out, and things like the diadem, pvp system, we have seen revamp at the cost of good new content being added, and it failed. Regardless how great it could be, on paper at least, there's no reason that should be done and is just time/money we could be spending on something better.
