Oh I didn't read through everything so didn't know it was your first play through. Just do MSQ and when you hit a spot you need to be higher at then Q for the dungeon and FATE grind for a level. If you get bored of that you can always do side questsProblem is I want to continue on with the MSQ for stormblood. Lvling my crafts jobs right now isn't something i really want to do cause thats just gonna take decades to get to hit 70 like you stated. Anyway i'm gonna try all the things people mentioned gives me a lot to think about when it comes to leveling to 70. Hate the fact that MSQ is locked behind all different levels to be able to continue with it. It just kills the flow and the immersion of the game play.
The best exp come from dungeon, so first queue up for a dungeon (level up roulette or the highest level up dungeon you can do)
While waiting for the queue do other content that give you exp and that you can stop doing the moment the queue is ready, like FATE or sidequests.
You don't need an entire party to do FATEs. I do FATEs all the time, especially on DPS Jobs, I just use my Chocobo. The Fringes is the best place for 60-61.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
You should do all main scenario quests and it's also highly recommended to do all the unlock sidequests (with blue quest icons). After those, make sure you do your weekly challenge log (I do dungeons, FATEs and commendations) and daily roulettes (I do leveling, 50/60, and trials). Additionally, you can do other side quests (they're a great source of gil and decent source of exp), FATEs (you can solo pretty much anything but boss FATEs), and daily SB hunts. Then you also have the option of running your current highest dungeon for good exp and gear.
Another reason for doing FATEs in Stormblood to level is the new bonus exp system added for FATEs in SB areas - random FATEs will have a 'bonus exp' modifier on it, in addition to the 'Twist of Fate' effect, in that there is a chance of an enemy spawning during a FATE in SB areas called a 'forlorn maiden' (it looks like a crystal fairy) that does not seem to fight back. Destroying this before the FATE ends will then grant you the 'Twist of FATE' status that is a buff to the exp gained in the next FATE you do (which stacks on the aforementioned FATE bonus exp on top of that), although the effect wears off after that next FATE is completed, there is no limit to how many times you can get it.
So exp tends to flow in with FATEs in SB without even trying, to the point you will probably end up overlevelling easily in the main scenario, not necessarily a bad thing.![]()
1) FATE base xp needs to be buffed at some point - even with Armory Bonus and all the bonuses they are still barely worth doing unless you are waiting for a queue...it is actual content that should be supported and worthwhile in and of itself not just a side activity you do to fill time.
2) Clan Mark Bills - the base xp is fine but it needs to have the Armory Bonus applied...really stupid that it doesn't especially HW hunts that give at best, ~51k xp.
Add tomes and massively bump XP for the epic/30-minute fates.1) FATE base xp needs to be buffed at some point - even with Armory Bonus and all the bonuses they are still barely worth doing unless you are waiting for a queue...it is actual content that should be supported and worthwhile in and of itself not just a side activity you do to fill time.

And add even more tomes for World Bosses.
This content needs to make a comeback.
Doing FATES solo might be a bit on the slow side, but the point is you can still earn xp while waiting on your dungeon queue. Just keep an eye out for the double xp ones that pop up from time to time, and again for the special enemy that can show up and give you a double xp buff for your next FATE.
It's supplemental xp and is faster levelling than queueing for a dungeon and tabbing out until it pops. As long as your chocobo can cast choco-cure, you can solo any of the non group specific ones with ease.
FATEs are actually pretty good. Look for the exp bonus ones, and kill the Maidens for the bonus on the next FATE.
People say there's no one doing FATEs, but in my experience once I start doing them at least one or two people will end up joining in once they see I'm doing them. I mean, someone has to start it, and it might as well be you.
Even most boss fates can be done solo but it helps to have potions. Ever since PotD was released, it has been cheap to carry around whole stacks of max-potion HQ and guzzle them as quickly as the cooldown timer allows to sustain oneself through long solo battles. I have 10 jobs at Lv70 so far and I basically just cruise around looking for fates that have bonus exp while weaving in dungeons and duty roulette.
