Okay, I'm gonna be THAT guy (re: HQ quest rewards)...

Do we really need to have the MSQ give HQ quest rewards...?

Most crafted items from 61-70 have been ground into the dust, price-wise. It's actually dramatically more profitable (or profitable at ALL) to make items from HW instead.

I'm all for giving people decent gear as they level, but the way these quests panned out, it basically gave everyone a HQ item for their main class and level, then another HQ item for a different class that probably went straight to the market board. I'd have no issue if these rewards were bind on pickup (like other MMOs usually do with quest rewards), but most of the MSQ is just handing people HQ market board fodder.

I'll probably get a lot of heat for this, and that's fine (controversial topics are basically my thing). It just stinks when you dump a bunch of gil into leveling and crafting/gathering gear only for most of the recipes from the latest expansion to not be anywhere near worth trying to sell.

This is a normal thing? HQ gives people a taste of it through the MSQ (and sidequests), incentivizing players to desire HQ equipment as they play the game and boosting the player-crafted demand for when the new players eventually dry up and stop supplying these HQ quest rewards.

This was exactly what happened in HW. The cycle doesn't change.

Also with the Omega release you actually have incentive to go straight for the HQ 320 crafted gear, so your efforts AREN'T wasted. The raiding scene creates an economy for all manner of consumable supplies. People like crafting in anticipation of the next update.

Leve items are worth a lot. Component parts are worth a lot. GC HQ turn-ins are worth a lot.

There should be no issues. =3

It was the same model as HW. Also remember 270 gear lasts to almost 65. The gouging doesn't happen in the leveling gear. It happens in the vanity gear and lower stuff people don't make to level up on. It is great for desynthing if you know the mats and have the skill. But maybe in the future a green set designed for each zone would be a little cooler and generic gear in the leveling dungeon.

I made of lot of money selling the quest items. Thank you SE, my alt on Gilga has enough to buy a small house in Shirogane.

I got 2 full sets of HQ gear to level my main and a secondary job. ... i still need armor for 66+ for any other jobs I'm leveling. I'm not seeing too much of a drop in price.. in fact the quest dropped HQ's are still well within profitable levels on my server. .. but then again.. that's just my server.

Uhm. On my server the 68-70 crafted items are an arm and a leg (Unless you think 200+k is not an arm and a leg). I have stopped leveling combat classes to level crafting classes so I can support those classes. I'm definitely not willing to pay for those prices. I'm barely willing to pay 50+k on the 62-68 lvl items (100+k if it's a weapon/belt/Right side)

I'm happy that I had enough HQ items from MSQ rewards for practically 2 classes. Well more like 4. As I lvled PLD first and Nin Second. So DRK and WAR are set.

Eitherway! I'm glad for this. For those that buy and sell them they are making gil.

I'm ON your server: most of the HQ jewelry from 61-70 is less than 40k a piece, with many of them being under 20k.

Which items are over 200k because I want to start selling THOSE...

Hmmm I think it was WHM that I was like... Nope. Not buying from the MB! I'll make it. I'll have to now and go check. I know that was yesterday! And hi! A fellow Hyperion...ian?

Heck the Pallidum 320 Dex rings are nearing 300k! Well its fairely dropped from 800. Nice... Dex Imperial Jade is 60. Well pooh to you! I got Nin's rings elsewhere! Back when you were 100+!

There we are. Healing rings. 68. 166+ Ya. Not in this life time. I'll make them. XD

Edit: Hmm seems that things are upset over here. Somethings are cheap as heck. (Bracelet for 30k... Cheap. Still I'll make mine). Other things are over 160k. You might want to a pick a level and check the various roles. (I kinda miss WoW's TradeSkillMaster Addon.)

Edit 2~: Well well well. WHM sticks are going down in price. I suppose you can safely say things are getting cheaper. 150 Yesterday. 115 today. But then being on this server you should very well know this is common. Soon (Not THAT soon) the next teir of crafted shit will happen and things will cost millions for several months. I'm looking at you Ironworks Crafted gear. This time I'll be prepared!

Hmm, maybe carpentry is the way to go then? And hello to you too.

It's still possible to make money (mostly on HW stuff), but so many things that are currently much higher on the difficulty/expense scale to build are just tanked in price. Feels backwards more than anything...

Refer to my other post please, another reason for that is because everyone focuses on that. Another thing about the econ in this game, you are only going to make nice money if you find something no one is doing. Everyone does the high end stuff, undercut spam > lower prices.

Yes it is backwards and FFXIV has always been like that for the most part, there is narrow time periods where the higher stuff is worth doing, like my 3.4 example, but atm, because a lot of people have things 50+, your going to make money off making those leve/gc turn ins.
