I may be wrong, but didn't someone ask for the possibility of an heirloom system at one of the live Q&As? Could've sworn they said they were working on something that was similar?

Heirlooms have a limit - in FF14 they would stop providing XP at 60 if compared to WoW. The armory bonus system is nice and all except it can't apply to the quests that *do not exist* for alt specs...see that is where this whole armory bonus/ play all the classes on one character fails, HARD. Leveling an alt job is a PITA because if you enjoy questing and not doing mind numbing content over and over and over again - you are SoL. In every other MMO I have played (which is a lot...)I always have *many* max level classes because leveling is actually fun in those MMO's - in FF14 the first job is awesome to max and then it is like pulling teeth...literally the only MMO I HATE to level "alts" - talk about slow and boring. *Anything* to speed up the nonsense of leveling alt (battle) jobs in this game would be helpful, including "heirlooms."

Can someone explain to me what the heirloom system is?
I did:
That would be the translation for current FFXIV pretty much. The only thing that can't be done is a way send it to alt characters because this game has a weird phobia of mailing your alts.I did it so I did not have to worry about gear, because lack of inventory. It is nice doing lv 1 gear to level 130, then to 270, so it is less strain on inventory. This is why I had so few jobs leveled before it, and all 60 before HW ended after it.
We do not need exp bonus BoA gear, but it would be nice to have gear level with you, so level 1-49 would grow just that, level 1-49, at 50, it becomes 130 and slow gains again to match DF gear, then at 60 it becomes 270 and starts a slow climb again, at 70 it becomes 290 to match the af, so it makes all the 70 gear relevant, it shouldn't be replacing anything in endgame. I do not see how this harms the game in any way, the game throws gear at you anyway, and strains inventory. It would be nice to have to lower item bloat.
In case people are confused how these work, to translate this in ffxiv, it would be like getting a job to 70, farming allagen tomestones of verity, using those to buy gear for some other job, and it levels up with the job like how I described above.
Has not done anything to ruin anything, here it would help control inventory issues, something wow does not have a problem with. Meaning they are more needed here. They do need to not have exp bonus though since the Amory bonus already takes care of it, along with some in game gear FFXIV already has.No no no, abso-freaking-lutely not.
Heirlooms completely ruined the leveling experience in WoW. Even disregarding the exp boost (which you already get plenty of in FFXIV), they are just rediculously overstatted and completely take away the enjoyment of gathering new equipment. As for your "Otherwise it's just potd to powerlevel" argument, people would do that regardless of whether or not there are heirlooms.
Say no to heirlooms, say yes to people actually playing the game.

There has always been the option of... not wearing heirlooms. I have pretty much all of them unlocked and very rarely use them in WoW.
This would be nice. And it would help ease armoury issues.

Not to mention that wow heirlooms were so powerful that you got good results even if you were playing with a crap rotation, which tricked bad players into thinking they were good up until they outleveled their looms and discovered that they were horrible at their class. They couldn't hang at endgame so they'd just roll new alts and level up all over again. Better to be a big fish in a small pond, and all that.No no no, abso-freaking-lutely not.

You say no no no but look what happened with lvl boosts, we still got them. So i wouldnt be surprised if yoshi found some way to bring them inNo no no, abso-freaking-lutely not.
