Hmm not sure if i would classify this as a "problem" necessarily, guess we are vying for more "Convenience" as a community. The solutions I have seen so far such as exp bank, an extra dps slot ...all seem like good ideas that probably would save us a little bit of time.

I have been thinking though since we are all kind of bouncing ideas off each other... What if...and again a big IF ,not married to the idea yet...what if dungeons had the same concept like P.O.T.D? Which would mean a tank or healer would NOT be REQUIRED to move forward ...it would just be suggested to have these two in a party as well as lower the cool downs of potions ,phoenix downs etc. Now granted this would make runs tedious,, wipes might be more probable etc etc... but i think letting people have a shot at running a dungeon with lets say 1 healer 3 dps , or 4 dps, or 4 tanks, or 4 healers ( you get the point haha) would definitely speed que times. Just a thought.

    i mean i like tanking.

but if you solve the queue problems for DDs, doesn't that mean tanks lose their instant queues? and when i can queue on a DD as fast as i can on my tank - why should i deal then with randoms and tankxiety? i play tank because i like the greatsword, i like the fast queues and i like to help others (with the queues). and i guess you all know the downsides of tanking...

i would still play my tank for fun with the FC, but not so sure with the duty finder. and if more people think like me, adding more DD slots will solve nothing.

The solution I think would be a 2-tiered adventurer in need system. Role in the middle of the needed amount would get some reward, the role most in need (the one that shows up in adventurer in need currently), would get the biggest reward. There would be one caveat though, to be eligible for that reward you would have to queue solo. If you take even ONE other person in a premade, you forfeit the rights to the bonus. Plus, if it solves the tank and healer queues and there's not enough DPS, they can also get in on the reward.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

If done right they wouldn't. The issue is the system forces you to play the class you want to level. So if there's 100 players that want to level a dps job all stuck in a queue. Its Because they have to be on that job.

If you made the AIN reward an exp scroll or something then even if only 10 of those 100 people decided to take advantage of that and roll as AIN then straight away that queue size is slashed by 30%

Then even if the 70 left in the queue didn't want to change to AIN they'd still benefit because they're 30 places further forward in the queue han they would have been... whixb means they'll get in faster..

Imagine that! To level a job, you must play that job. Amazing! Who'd have thought that would be the case?

Do they post a census like they did with 11 MistakeNot? I do agree that tank and healer mistakes are disastrous , though in my personal experience the DPS are treated worse because they can be replaced.

Kosmos992k how is that any different from people who spam leve , main scenario , pvp , or palace who never learn their role, rotation, or job reasonably? It's definitely not a perfect idea ,but it is interesting.

@ LunaFeye>> Sorry to say but i am also on the same server as you (Leviathan) and queue times are horrid for dps.
Roulettes are so so, but i tried to queue for Dun Hell yesterday (needed for WT book) and i was in queue for a hr and a half until i gave up.
Experts at times if i am not with a healer and or tank friend takes over 30 mins at times

I do not know what can actually be done for queue times, there is no real solution since so many dps out there

As for the Adventure in Need, it always seems it is tanks
I would prefer to heal randoms then tank, lol

Most of the suggestions in this thread won't help. The major cause of the problem is with the players, not the game or the classes/jobs.

There is not really much of a shortage of tanks or healers overall. There is however a shortage of people willing to tank/heal for random people.

There is more pressure on tanks and healers than on dps. Not because the role is harder, but because any mistakes will be more visible.
Although most players are decent enough, there are enough that will yell at other people for doing mistakes that many people don't want to take the risk of ending up with one of them, so they will tank/heal only when they play with friends.

Even if everyone played a healer and tank it is still unbalanced. There are not enough healers and tanks to level up compared to dps. There are 9 dps or 8 with smn/sch. Compared to only 3 tanks and healers each. After people level up their healer or tank they move on to the multiple dps rolls. That's where the imbalance comes in. People spend more time on dps because there are so many jobs to level.

I already level two healers and I'm working on my last one. After I hit 70 I'm hanging up my healing hat for a while because I don't have another healer to level and I'm going to focus on leveling up my dps. This means there is one less healer for the weeks/months it takes to me level up 5-6 other jobs. If there were more healer jobs I would level it and this would increase the healer population. Not everyone is like this but I'm pretty sure that plays a major role in it too. So you would technically have more people playing healers/tanks if there were more jobs.

I'm the only one who think the DPS queue is already back to normal?
