How is a Dark Knight in WHM robes any different from a Dragoon wearing lingerie or a Monk doing flips while dressed as a stuffed pig with a Slime King hat on his head?
And in your second post, I don't quite get your concern, because in this game Casters and Healers already share gear models the vast majority of the time, they're just palette swapped. And why arbitrarily keep DoH/L from DoW/M? Who cares if a Machinist is wearing the lv.70 Suspenders? He can't craft. Hell, most of the leveling stuff for crafter in 4.0 is recycled models of combat gear or lv.1 vanity stuff. Shouldn't you also then be concerned that Crafter gear is encroaching on combat gear's model selection? Of course not.
But the fact remains that its inconsistent. Inconsistency is unfair. Tanks always get a unique set of gear. Always. No other role gets that, and that's not likely to change anytime soon. And that would be perfectly fine, IF we just toss the arbitrary restrictions out the window entirely and let everyone wear what they want to wear. Wanting to keep people from wearing something just because you only want your job to wear it is just a nothing argument when it locks away this many options for glamour, which is a completely harmless yet huge part of the appeal for a lot of players.

Because those models were already neutral and not locked to a specific job.
For the record, I don't think it's great that healers and casters always get recolors either, but that's neither here nor there.
It just feels nice to have something, one thing, one TINY little thing, that is unique to the job you are playing. Just because there isn't much of it in other parts of the game doesn't mean we should dump everything that's unique to a job. Because with that logic, why not just have three jobs to pick from, healer, tank, and dps? We have different jobs for a reason, people have different playstyles, and a few sets that are aesthetically unique to that one job is not going to somehow kill glamour for everybody.
What's stupid is the restriction on neutral models. Not on sets that are designed with a specific job, with that job's lore, in mind. A white mage has always worn a white robe with red triangles. A black mage has always had that hat with the...mask thingy. A lot of these are designs deeply entrenched in Final Fantasy as a series. This is the only FF game I've even played, and even I think that's worth a tiny bit of preservation.

Yet the Genji Domaru of Healing takes that iconic pattern and straight up gives it to SCH/AST. It almost looks more like WHM gear than the actual male AF3 set. Job identity via gear has been dead for ages. I'd prefer they left that to weapons and unlocked all gear for glamour - people can be combat chefs but only True Culinarians can wield a frying pan. Let us dress in whichever clothes we like and celebrate more diversity of choice.
Yet the game actively discourages you from playing anything other than something you'd consider your main job.
Also You don't need a tiny thing to be special or unique, that's silly. You already have that as the identity is not the clothes the job wears, but rather its actions and weapon, its personality isn't in the clothing at all (and why people think this is the case is beyond me), that's it. Nothing else matters. They've already broken their own rules, so its time they either go back and admit their mistakes and fix it, or they fold and allow us to wear whatever we please.
Job identity is already dead. This is a moot point.
Absolutely not, the crafting and gathering sets need to be usable as glamour on all roles. There's no reason for anything, to be locked period, other than to appease people who probably don't even bother with glamour in the first place because they're' too concerned with maintaining a job identity that doesn't actually exist anymore. Now, for the crafting/gathering sets, I don't think they should stay specific to their jobs, just stay as DoL/DoH in general. But for DoW/M, yes, I think they should stay restricted.
I want the Arachne Shirt of Scouting of Fending. Or a Cashmere Skirt of Striking of Fending. Seriously the Arachne Shirt of Scouting goes so well with Noct Breeches or any shorts and OTK socks and guess which class doesn't have shorts and OTK socks, spoiler it's NIN.
You mean role based glamour right?
