    Primal team up

I keep wondering if it would be possible within the lore to see two or more primals team up for whatever reason. I do remember back in MSQ when we fought Garuda she wanted to eat up Titan and Ifrits aether just to kill us, not much of a team player in that aspect. Don't think that trio would ever get along.

But what about the other primals from the game? Would it be possible for them to join forces, if for a moment? Who would get along with who, or at least tolerate to a point?

I can already imagine people demanding Lakshmi, Shiva and Sophia stepping on them as a team.

The lore kind of prevents that though due to the tempering aspect - a Primal tempers mortals to only revere them and them alone as the 'one true god' and to disregard all others, and accordingly they are antagonistic towards others who aren't.

This was more shown in 1.0 where a group of Ixal and amalj'aa were arguing over who got a crystal shipment, each demanding that the crystals be offered only to their deity and telling the other tribe to "bow to our deity" (paraphrased) - they were this close to each summoning Ifrit and Garuda then and there, which, a npc present noted, would have been a very bad thing (each Primal would have attacked the other, with disastrous results). Thankfully the player and their Path Companion managed to subdue the beastmen, although the beastmen only withdrew when an Ascian unexpectedly showed up in it's 'bestial' form... but that's another story...

ARR already did kind of show multiple Primals being present at the same time though - the scene after Garuda's SM battle, when Garuda tortures the Ixal's kobold and amal'jaa prisoners, who summon weak versions of Titan and Ifrit - but again it's not that they're 'teaming up together', Garuda was probably hoping to destroy those Primals and absorb their aether... alas Gaius shows up and has the Ultima Weapon do that for her (and to Garuda as well for that matter), absorbing each Primal's aether in turn.

Either way, I don't see this happening gameplay wise I'm afraid for these lore reasons.

Lore wise, Primals that come into contact would probably war with one another to take their aether. They are described as destructive beings that siphon the aether in the surrounding location once they consume as much aetheric crystals as possible. This kind of phenomena is only really alluded to but in the lore the kind of global magic decay that might occur if this runs rampant would probably be the equivalent of another Era Disaster.

In the Warring Triad Story, we saw that Sophia the primal did plan to team up with Bahamut and even allowed herself to be captured to this end - although the plan never succeeded and Bahamut probably didn't know. They would likely have turned on one another after the Allagan Empire was wiped out.

Technically speaking, a single primal can be as powerful as it needs to be provided its worshipers can procure enough converts and crystals. There is a finite amount of either resource, so there is an incentive against two Primals working together. Also, since Primals technically never die they may not see the point of a military alliance, because such matters are usually based on self-preservation.

Also, there is the religious aspect to it. Two gods viewing each other as equals, which would be a necessity for such a team up, might go against the perceptions of their followers which would be lethal to the well-being of these entities. This is because they rely on the prayers of their worshipers to sustain a corporeal form. So going against the orthodoxy of the tribe they belong to is not a good idea for a Primal.

A Primal team up is certainly possible, and it would be an absolutely apocalyptic scenario due to the numbers and strengths of these entities. The Grand Companies and the Scions simply do not have the resources and numbers to pin-down so many such entities at once. You would need an army of Echo Blessed Warriors running up and down the land (which technically exists but shhh). This scenario might occur if all the tribes and groups banded together and bound their gods into a single pantheon - but this might not forestall infighting for resources. Also, it would be nearly impossible to get all these groups together to agree.

I could see however something like 2 primals born of sister tribes. Both with the intent of protecting their followers. Each tribe would worship only their primal. At the face of destruction I could see the two primals channelling their desire to protect their people to call on a greater God. Each symbolizing the will and Hopes of their people, with similar belief systems, calling Something beyond the level of primal.

That's one avenue I want to see them take primals. The whole "dream" that dreamt a dream.

The best chance at a primal team up would be either ramuh and Shiva or ramuh and susano... depending on the threat and the logic behind doing so..

*Spoilers Below End of HW Content*

Shiva is kind of... indisposed. I don't why her name keeps coming up.

Granted, perhaps neither she nor Ysayle are truly dead and could theoretically be brought back to corporeal form - but such would be very risky and go very much against the mission of the Scions.

Also, do spoiler tags work in this forum? Anything we can hide text with?

As mentioned before here, it is very unlikely for two primals to agree to cooperate. The most amendable to this would probably be Ramuh (being much more moderate in temperament) and Susano (being just a jolly guy in general). But then again, Ramuh seems aware of the detrimental effect that primals have on the world, so he might not tolerate others existing just on that basis.

However, the one case in which this can be seen happening, would be "a primal consisting of multiple entities". We got a taste of this with Thordan already, as his knights also became "semi-primals" of the original knights twelve.
Now imagine, let's say, Genbu Buakko Suzaku and Seiryu being summoned as a single primal, just comprising multiple entities. Or potentially being four separate gods of the same religion, who would be agreeable to working together if summoned simultaneously. And by that logic Susanoo could very well work with Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, or any other number of Kami from the Kojin's beliefs, assuming they got summoned at the same time, which I do find unlikely to happen.
