As a minority, is it out of the question to hope for representation?

I actually remember really liking that rising poster at the time because there wasn't a skimpy miqo in it >> although in fairness that wouldn't suit the event at all. I'm not really complaining about sexy outfits for moonfire - it makes sense given it's the summer swimsuit event. But you can't argue that there isn't an overabundance of ladycats in official posters, even if I like ladycats.

I don't hate Miqo'te or Au Ra. I don't suddenly want roes to take over. My problem is the lack of balance. Everything about this game from the promotional material to the in-game characters slant so incredibly heavily in favor a specific type of character.

For instance, just think about how many times a female miqo'te or au ra have graced the promotional material/event art for this game in comparison to just about any other race. It's a landslide of epic proportions. This year's Moonfire Faire art is the most phoned in thing they could have done. They could have had any other combination of race and genders, but they went for the same two races who are almost always depicted in the art for almost every other event. And if all that wasn't enough, SE essentially gave them their very own specal holiday with Little Ladies Day.

And then there's the NPCs. Moenbryda's death in and of itself didn't bother me. Ysayle's death in and of itself didn't bother me. However, when Y'shtola is, for intents and purposes, brought back to life in one expansion then almost cut in half the next, yet she's still around, it really feels like they're playing favorites. Moenbryda lasted two patches. Ysayle, who had an excellent arc btw, didn't even make it to 3.1. Meanwhile, Yotsuyu, this incredibly boring one-note villain, gets a building dropped on her face, but don't worry guys, she's totally okay. There are no notable Elezen women anywhere MSQ (to be fair, there are a few in job quests and the Scholasticate) , but everyone sure does remember their precious short, petite waifu Hilda. There are plenty of lowborn elezen women in Ishgard, but I guess none are quite cute enough, eh? Just had to make her half hyur for that, right? The men don't fare much better. Miqo'te, Roegadyn, and, until recently, Au Ra men were pretty much relegated to job quests. Hell, now that I think about it, catboys probably have it just as hard as the elezen women and Roegadames in that SE tries to pretend you don't exist in most cases.

To top it all off, the amount of people playing Miqo'te and Au Ra is staggering. Again, I don't hate any of the people playing them just because they're playing them. There's nothing inherently wrong with either of those races and chances are the vast majority of people playing them, like any other race, are most likely really cool people IRL. My problem again is this: I like variety. My favorite color is purple. My favorite food is rice. My favorite in-game race are Roes. But do I want to paint everything I own purple? Do I want rice everyday? Do I want Roes plastered every where and every other race ignored? No, because that's boring.

There are a handful of race/gender combos and specific "types" of characters that dominate every aspect of this game and I'm just starting to get tired of it. I'm not suggesting they aim for some magical quota either where every race has to be equally represented at all times. For the billionth time, all I'm saying is: spread the love, SE.

Yes, some of them do include miqo - but they also display other races without overshadowing them which is why I included them. Female miqo are the most popular, so it makes sense that they will be used in their advertising, but it's not quite as overrun as you made it sound. :3

I get femRoe aren't popular especially in EU/JP. But there was an effort to create them, so why are they shafted into the shed of no return?

There are a lot of femRoes on JP servers, on Tiamat I have seen a lot of them. They aren't popular in NA in comparison XD.

Au Ra and Miqo'te are like the fanservice races for advertisement. At least they put a male in there, and it wasn't just females. Still it would've been nice if the main drawing was something other than a white skinned female Miqo'te. It is always Seeker of the Sun too, they never have a black skin Keeper of the Moon.

A little variety wouldn't hurt, can always use more Femroe and Elezen ladies. At the same time however, I'm satisfied with my choice of race, and don't really need artwork of it to fulfill some requirement for representation in my head

I could also agree with this, as on a similar train of thought I actually can't think of a dark-skinned Duskwight lady of any importance in the game off the top of my head. If someone can think of one, lemme know.
