Our community has been getting worse over time sadly. The type of attitude you are describing is becoming more and more prevalent unfortunately. I've reached a point were I now vote kick people like that, which is not something I would have done before, but as a community we need to put our foot down toward this toxic behavior.

Ah, another one from the no patience instant gratification generation. The only solution to this, my friend, is to double, triple and quadruple down. Leave the cutscenes on for every fight, absorb every detail of the plot, and if someone doesn't like it, they can leave! Enjoy the half hour deserter debuff, pal!

Don't ever let ANYONE tell you how to enjoy your game, or not to enjoy it for that matter. They're not your parents, they don't pay your sub, and if they want you to spare them an inconvenience, they should strive to be someone worthy of that courtesy

This is simply not true. I completed those dungeons in 2.0, two or three months after the re-realese of the game as ARR and it sucked back then. Same situation. I went with three friends - two tanks, two heals, trying to control the pace of the run with that set-up. And we still had DPS (who were farming it for tomes) run ahead, finish bosses before we got out of cutscenes and complain about us watching them. I felt very stressed and upset by the whole thing.
Today I have a better understanding of the whole situation though and that is: It sucks for everyone. It sucks for the new person, but it also sucks for the person whos doing it for the 50th time.

The best solution from my perspective is really not to use the DF but the unsych-option in the first place. Having 7 people standing around doing nothing for 30-45 minutes isnt the best answer.

It's not a simple thing, but in reality, the only "wrong" thing here is how he said it and that he did do so at the end, not at the beginning.
However, it seem to me like the party could have meant that it's fine with them at that time, aka. at the boss that you got locked out of. Not necessarily a free pass to watch the cutscenes from then on freely. They just didn't want to say anything afterwards for one reason or another.

You have to understand something too. "The way it's meant to be played" is a horribly wrong argument here. For starters, there is an option to automatically skip watched cutscenes, so it is very much "how it's meant to be played" to skip the cutscenes. Then there is the option of watching these cutscenes in particular at the inn. I know that it is a bit different, I myself have watched all the cutscenes till Garuda "live". However, that was the first long cutscene and I genuinely felt bad for holding back the party like that (as a healer), so I apologized and it so happened that someone told me about the inn...something I had no idea about. Let's ignore the fact he said it in an outburst, cause it was still valuable information.

After that, I do not watch most cutscenes in dungeons. If I can watch them AND not waste the time of others, why not skip them?! Respect is a mutual thing. I'm not more important than others, and neither is the reverse true. If I couldn't watch the cutscenes, I would watch them. But I can do that as much as I want. I can redo the dungeon later on to watch them "live". So though I won't say anything bout people watching the short cutscenes in normal dungeons, I will tell people in Praetorium and Castle Meridianum, after the first cutscene, that they may want to skip the cutscenes and watch them at the inn later since the party is unlikely to wait for them. Without name calling and all that, of course. If they will still watch cutscenes...well. They still won't get to play it "how it's meant to be played", since they won't...well...play anything at all. Just watch the cutscenes one after another. It's just too much of a pain to get worked over people that don't show respect to the time of others, just like it is too much of a pain to get worked over people that do not respect others.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that you were "rude", or rather, I can understand that you did not mean to be rude. But showing disregard for the time of another...is...in fact...rude. Consider this. If a cashier at a shop you go to kept talking with the client in front of you for twenty minutes, without ever finishing scanning her things till then, cause it was her friend or whatever, would you feel angered?! Very much so, because your time was wasted, no questions asked. It would be rude to you. You however did this very thing. After all, the friend of that cashier also did "spend money", just like you. So she had the "right" to get a "bonus" from her friend, right?! Remember, these things never go one way.

PS: You completely misunderstand what a roulette is for. It is very much "farming" option that is meant to provide farmers with bonuses for helping fill parties in need...or just other farmers. To even use a roulette, you need to finish the dungeons contained within. It goes without saying that in that case, EVERYONE using the roulette FINISHED the dungeon at least once. It is the exact opposite. If you do not want to be with people to farm this dungeon, then don't use the duty finder but party finder. Of course, you'll be waiting then for hours before it fills up, cause most people have no reason whatsoever to run them normally. That's what roulette is meant to fix, so that you would actually have who to run it with without knowing people that could help you.

I'm sorry you had to deal with such a person Sarteck. Also some of the replies in this thread are absurd.

Topic: "We wanted to view the cutscenes Square Enix decided to overload this dungeon with to enjoy the plot and someone got snippy with us about it just to be a jerk."

    Responses:
"You were leeching, I would've kicked you."
"Don't use Party Finder for such dungeons if you don't want to deal with the occasional jerk."
    "Grow thicker skin, problem solved."

Every one of these responses are basically sugar-coated excuses to say "stop crying about that jerk and get over it". For starters, shame on those of you that did so for calling a newcomer to Castrum and Praetorium a leech just for watching cutscenes. Not only are those dungeons too easy for leeching to be a problem (provided both tanks and/or healers don't do it) but it was Square Enix who made these dungeons the way they are and refuse to go back and fix them. Furthermore it isn't easy to find a static willing to do a slow run in those dungeons because 1) you'd need a group of 8 people progressing alongside you or 2) you'd need people actually willing to do such a slow run to fill the 7 slots (less depending on how many friends are progressing with you) to avoid using Party Finder for them. Don't know about you all but I find that would be a rare thing indeed.

In the end, Castrum and Praetorium are victim to cutscene overload and Poetics farming. People will want to speed run them to get them over with while those new to it usually want to watch cutscenes. At this point, it is a compromise to let both sides do their thing. The Healer Sarteck mentioned though was being a jerk just to be a jerk, and sadly there are indeed randoms like that out there, but as long as we all do our part to minimize needless toxicity we may be able to keep douchebags like those in the minority. There is no excuse for toxic behavior. You're either toxic to be toxic or you're not toxic, that's all there is to it, and telling someone to just grow thicker skin and get over it is practically the same as condoning toxicity. If anyone in a group has a problem with someone, they can speak up in a civilized manner and work to resolve it. If they cannot agree then actions can be taken, such as vote kick or leave. Flaming is never a good idea, and that is all that healer was doing. Evidence is in how they said it after the run was over and they were exiting because it was a last-second flame that they couldn't get retaliation from.

There is really nothing wrong with watching cutscenes your first time in CM or the Praetorium. I would say you were fine and the player who criticized you was out of line.

Fortunately SE figured out that story dungeons lead to antagonism in DF so all the later dungeons postpone any long cutscenes until after the end. It is a bit sad though since story dungeons can be fun and immersive.

Cross world PF is now a nice option if you want to put together a serious min ilevel story mode party, watching all cutscenes between actual battles that might offer a tiny bit of challenge!!

Here are quite a few replies, and I'm not sure if the topic starter even reads it.

But Hell. If you wanna watch the cutscenes. Watch them! Dont care if anyone argues about that. It is not your problem if the group does not wait for you. They have to get it done then or yeah, wipe.

The Chat is giving a message when a player is doing the content first time. So all others have to deal with it then. I can totally understand that some peeps are wanting to get their roulettes done quick. But it is no reason to ruin other players story experience in my opinion.

Just dont care about that single negative experience In the future you will have several of them too. Just dont let it touch you and go on

I would of reported you for abusing the system. The guy is new, don't look like a butt to newbies in this game or anyone for that matter.

You guess he was being rude? Doesn't new players still carry the leaf mark until they hit SB? People could see his info and see that he was new.
Not only that, it seems the healer mentioned the time thing at the very end, not the beginning, so no one could of known until then.
Not that hard to be nice human beings people.

Good news is, Yoshi saw this mistake of having lots of CS in a dungeon and has decided to never do this again because of the harassment.

    Yeah, I guess.

I mean, this is exactly what he said:

"next time... especially as a tank.... don't freaking view cutscenes when you can view all of them after
i usually view cutscenes too but you're being really rude by doing nothing half the dungeon"

He didn't say anything that was tremendously gross. I mean, the worst thing he did was using the word "rude" for someone that was basically doing nothing useful for the party during all the dungeon.

I think that if we analize it objectively, that kind of disregard for other people's time it's something that is, at the very least, "not nice".

Of course, value given to time varies wildly from country to country, and we also don't know the intention of that player, therefore, I say "guess".

Anyway, I think that creating a topic about this is overreacting. I mean... That may be rude, but is not the worst thing a read on a party chat this week and what he said was not without reason...
