Well you were talking about dungeons too.Healer should do DPS too, don't take wrong my words. This topic is about the OP can´t find a healer for Omega Savages. If OS4 need plenty of AOES cures and 1.5k DPS from each healer, is a bad design and stressful task for many healers. Toxic community to blame healers when wipe is not helping too.I have raided as a healer (not anymore) and have always contributed in DPS in addition to healing. Now with being a DPS for raids, in my experience I'm now working just as hard as I did when I was healing and DPSing.

You people create healer hate threads every day on this forum and you wonder why healer population has gone down?
I don't think my job in raiding is any more stressful. At least now I don't kill people by screwing up cleric stance, and now I can cancel a dps cast to throw a heal instead.
I don't feel it's made my job too much more boring than before, either. Though, I'm still in V3S progression, and my static gets a lot of deaths/wipes due to connection issues.

As someone who has both a DPS and Healer to 70 and has done Savage and EX primals as both a healer and a DPS, I guess it's just personal preference, but to me it feels SOOOOO less stressful to just DPS... Sure, the DPS rotation on actual DPS class is a lot more difficult to pull off, but that's all the DPS class is.

Is there a valid reason for the switch from WHM to AST other than to fill in the spot of co-healer? I've personally tried AST and it felt much clunkier for me.
Let's just say I'm one of the person who tried switching to AST, and back to WHM just because I am so used to WHM's utilities. I might also give SCH a try as well.![]()

I think this is a strong reason as to why I switched roles. Many situations for me dealing DPS along with healing were heavily dependent on if my party/group seemed like they were managing ok (not eating poop & dodging avoidable attacks) then i would happily throw in damage as long as I left myself about a 40 - 40% MP threshold for healing situations minus the "oh crap" moments where I would have to pop a potion for hp/mp if I was out of mp regen cool down's. For that reason I've found it more enjoyable to explore other classes now that I originally never thought to give the time of day.Healer should do DPS too, don't take wrong my words. About the only thing I don't like about healer in SB is they took away our enemy mitigation skills like Disable/Virus and handed them to tanks and DPS to control. I always felt like that was a healer skill, as I was always on-point for these. Now we coach these guys who never healed things like "hey put up Addle for this".
Unnecessary button bloat on Astro due to the gauge changes. Now we have three undraw buttons when all we needed to do was click them off or make a simple macro back in HW. It's minor, but Astro is barely interesting with Sleeve Draw. It just added more bloat for two wildcards.
Good things are savage healer mechanics are okay, there is more damage to heal at-appropriate times. The return of White Mage to the scene is nice too, as it was the least-desirable healer in Creator. Now clear rates of different healer combos (WHM/AST, WHM/SCH, SCH/AST) is the best we have had since the introduction of Astrologian. Courtesy of SE for fixing WHM lilies/plentary, SCH QoL, and of course AST Balance nerf.
Still, I see healer recruiting at an all-time high. I imagine some of the replacement/weed out with O3S/O4S is occurring too.

All 3 Healers work and co-exist just fine, as Thea Nappoli already stated. And it's not just a conglomeration of oppinions; ffxiv-logs has the evidence "printed" into their statistics if you need other peoples' numbers to believe things. Even though AST+WHM creates an illusion of being "Meta", every combo of healers did beat O4S. Guess it speaks for itself. So, stop the "WHM and SCH are shit and AST is everything"-Rant, please. Maybe you are just not good or patient enough to work it out, or its just not your way of playing to begin with, post 4.0 atleast.![]()
So, coming back to the Topic of this thread: The reasons can be found in the contributions to this thread:
A) Pointless Hate-rant, based on Impatience/Lack of Skill/Prefering something else after 4.0 Job Changes unsettling new players to try out Healing
B) Good Healers were probably all taken as soon as Savage hit the servers + doing stuff with their group because DF is just horrible most of the time (Skills+Attitude).

I shelved my 70 AST when I realized how very little "healing" healers actually get to do in this game. Auto attack damage tickles tanks to the point where one regen ticking on a tank pretty much covers it.
Then, there's unavoidable tank busters or AoE damage...which typically takes 1-2 GCDs to heal completely (or just one oGCD).
And once the group is healed, it's right back to DPSing again.
If I'm going to be 20% healer and 80% DPS, I figured I may as well just play a DPS because at least the rotation will be fun and engaging.
This. I only heal when I play with friends. I don't have patience anymore for tanks that run away from protect, pulls from wall to wall, don't use any cooldowns and expecting me to use all my CDs to keep them up. And on top of that some stupid DPS will blame me for not DPSing. There is no time to dps with tank like that and I am out of mana after such pull. I am tired of this. With normal group, there is no problem, I can heal and dps just fine, but lately I had like 80% of groups full of morons. So no, I am playing game to have fun, not to get angry. For that reason I only queue as tank or dps now.
