This is the symptoms showing healing in FFXIV isn't fun at all. savage encounter damage pattern in FFXIV has been very spikey and whack-a-mole. On top of that people expecting healer to deal dps as well

If they were to ever remove Dps entirely from the Healer Role I am sure the backlash would be severe. This is a community issue with the "DPS Meta", Until that mindset is changed this will only keep on escalating. Do not remove the option to DPS as a Healer, The players who enjoy DPSing as a Healer will suffer and even more Healers will leave.
I am sick of players saying remove all DPS spells from Healers. No Healers should have the option to do meaningful damage if they choose to.

I joined 14 because of scholar. I went through that and HW feeling good even when it was difficult because I felt there was enough options in the job to make it feel like I was doing a lot of good even when Wiping City was living up to its namesake. The problem in SB is it's just not fun anymore. They took away my dps options, shields now feel like something should only throw on tanks just because and don't get me stated on fairy tether's actual utility.
The contrast from "lol we wiped" to now with "oh gawd why" (filling my fc discord with horror stories of randoms) was the reason I've changed over to drk and brd. Maybe I can main sch again or whm but now doesn't seem the time when it's just so punishing half the time between dps strategy/utility options removed and sch healing not feeling powerful enough unless I do a rotation to the effect of "rouse - fairy regen - delete physick/succ - spam broil- aetherflow - Lustrate for healing - eat the fairy - panic".

I don't think anyone in this thread has expressed any such sentiment. If they were to ever remove Dps entirely from the Healer Role I am sure the backlash would be severe. After being told to dps all the time I made the switch to an actual dps class.

Especially since its utterly unworkable. Levelling and questing are based on killing things, which is part of why they're boring as healers (what you're specialized at doing doesn't matter). With no DPS, the game mechanically would need to be altered to let you progress at all.

My last comment was referenced to this from page 8.

Id be fine with more hybrid type healer dps, where a skill both does dmg and heals a pt member at the same time. Theres a few skills like that now, but should be more.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

i think they should implement a healer class without own dps options, but with lots of buffs. basically AST with better buffs and no damage skills. If they were to ever remove Dps entirely from the Healer Role I am sure the backlash would be severe. now every healer is a heal + dps hybrid. that's a fine playstyle. but why has every healer this playstyle? i don't like it, i want another type of healer. give us more options besides the dpsing healer.
