The devs really can't win with this stuff.
They say White Mage or Paladin are made for progression? White Mages and Paladins argue that they can't get groups because content is tuned to be cleared without the extra "oomph".
They make Red Mage for progression? DPS jobs start arguing that Red Mage is a necessity. We're literally arguing both sides of the issue.



Only real change I'd make to RDM is making Verraise a 60s CD ability. The fact Dualcast works with it is a problem. Hell, I wouldn't be bothered if this change was applied to all raises, tbh. Equalize their utility, and it's not a problem.
Just remove being able to supercede the cast bar. Swiftcast can't be used with raise on any class, but costs 0 mp.
Creating arbitrary boundaries on one class is silly.
They aren't going to change it. If they do, they will have to buff RDM dps to at SMN levels, creeping closer to blm dps.

Heck let's just make all the classes have equal utility, everyone gets a constant 2% crit buff, everyone gets crit boosts and Dhit boosts, why not? That'll be so fun, having totally homogenous classes, everyone gets Manawall and everyone gets Contagion and Radiant Shield.

Dps buffs have nothing to do with utility, its just rdps compared to pure class dps and can be relatively easily balanced. Raise, aggro transfer, damage mitigators, healing busters and so on are utility. And things become way more complicated when one tries to balance dps classes around things that are not related to their dps in any way, especially in situations where progression times can be cutted in half by having that specific utility presented in raid.Heck let's just make all the classes have equal utility, everyone gets a constant 2% crit buff, everyone gets crit boosts and Dhit boosts, why not? And btw i don't say that keeping class identity intact is a bad thing, if anything it should be preserved. But for a healthy class balance and raid composition variety some things have to be "normalized" and i think battle res is one of these things.

Except it is related to your DPS, more raises = less DPS as RDM. There's 2 GCDs of DPS you don't get back unless you wipe as well as 25% of your MP, which if you had to do so more than 2-3 times in addition to healers Swifting, means most groups are going to wipe. And if RDM is your key to progression, as I said before, y'all need to get learning better.

You are a jack of all trades master of none, you shouldn't have better rezzing ability then a White Mage. That or at least make Vercure and Veraise have add white mana as they are White magic spells.

No, WHM had Arise in the other games which RDM couldn't use, RDM still had dualcast in other games, they could still dualcast Raise. Those games were not MMO's were they? (I have no played XI so forgive me if they could do it there). You also just admitted the problem yourself "some people are salty that they are no longer the de facto choice in raid progression." So Red Mage is because of it's raising capability? There is a problem if a class is that powerful that it is the "de facto" choice.
