As we make our way into 4.0 there's one thing that has always bothered me and hopes that they'll consider making changes for future events. Seasonal events have at most, been boring to do since relaunch of the game 2.0, with very few being the exception (i.e. last year's Halloween event and last year's Easter event, and the summer events the last year or two). And while I think it's cool that we get new event quests each year, events that are supposed to be played out/role played like festivals should not be something that's only good for 20-30mins and then never touch it again.
One of the reasons I liked XI's seasonal events was because not only did they include the current year's event, they also included past year's quests/activities allowing players who missed out the year before to experience it now. It also had more of a festival feel to it, allowing players to partake in said events throughout the course of the Seasonal event and not just 20 mins of one day.
As it stands now, XIV's seasonal events just feel heavily cheapened and offers little incentive to do. What good is that nice piece of furniture if I can't place it anywhere due to either lack of space in my house or no house at all for those of us who don't own a plot? What good is that piece of seasonal gear if I have to lug it around with me everywhere I go? What good is a long drawn out story if the story for the event is longer than the event itself?
Don't over complicate things either. After establishing the seasonal events themselves, most games usually just add new items each year (along with the old ones)with the possibility of a new mini-game/quest. For example, I would love to see the haunted house return. Last year's Easter event, as well as the year before was fun and would be nice to see make a comeback. I think it was the first Summer event from ARR launch that had the big fate in Costa del Sol, that in a sense was fun as well. Hell, even bring back the bells for small daily prizes or event tokens during the events. This way you save a bit on resources by not having to create new fleshed out quests each year for each seasonal event and players can enjoy these events for a much longer period instead of 20-30mins and then back to the same ol' grind or afking in Idylshire.
