Mind telling us how it happened? I confess to being wildly curious. I have seen and heard about friends and others getting involved online, but it has never happened to me despite all
the social activities I have had over quite a few MMOs.

People can theoretically meet anywhere, but it's really interesting to see how courtship and romance are handled in a virtual space such as an MMO.

Feel free to share (or not share, I don't wish to pry) your stories. I'm sure they will be interesting!

I didn't meet my significant other on ffxiv but I did meet her on ffxi. Been married 10 years now. Started as just friends but came to visit her and we hit it off. After a year of flying from new Hampshire to Ohio once a month decided to just move here, best decision of my life.

Wasn't FF, nor are we together anymore(was only a year long relationship as we were both young), but started as friends, hung out/ran content/called/texted with each other for a few months, then decided to give dating a try. I think it was the distance that killed it for us, since we were both young(under 18) when we started, and weren't able to visit each other at all. Though I do find myself wondering what she's up to these days as it was definitely one of the high points of that game for me.

I tried to get her into XIV 1.0. She wasn't a fan.

I met my boyfriend on FFXI I came to visit him for 2 months flew home, realized coming home was a mistake and 2 weeks later I was back with him for good ^^ we've been together irl for 7 years, knew each other through FFXI for an additional 5. We met in an exp party and then kept bumping into each other in town etc. and I ended up joining an LS I didn't know he was in. He kept bugging me for a picture of myself (even offered me a Krakken club for one lol) I refused for years, content just being chat buddies. Then he sent me a pic of himself, we started video skyping immediately, I was on a plane to see him within a year

"but why aren't you two married?" you may ask. Health Insurance BS and I'd rather not spend money on a wedding.

I feel like being 'anonymous online' allowed us to be more honest towards each other. When you don't think you'd actually ever meet them you kinda ditch the filters and let your true personality show lol

Didn't meet him in FFXIV but rather WoW, back in 2007. We roleplayed together occasionally - met IC for the first time at this silly little "in-character bank alt party" I hosted. Our characters got along better than us at first - not that we didn't get along. xD For a long time, I thought he was a girl, too! Over the course of 3+ years in WoW, we became fast friends both inside and outside the game. Eventually I flew out to what happened to be his state to check out a university for grad school there. We met up, and the rest is history. Married three years now!

I always feel so very lucky that we found each other. We share so many passions, likes, and dislikes, and my scientific training complements his creative writing and history mind very well.

I met my husband in XIV several years back.

It started out as sort of just talking in-game, but after a time we found ourselves talking outside of the game frequently.

We hopped on the 'long distance relationship via Skype' train and did that for about a year or so. After which Mr. Montblanc obtained a traveler's Visa to spend 90 days with me (we totally could have been on 90 Day Fiancee...). During that 90 days, we adopted a little kitten because apparently we needed a surrogate test child to make sure we were compatible. After about 60 or so days of Mr. Montblanc being in the United States, I recall walking into the bedroom and finding little Arkham (the kitten) with a ring on his collar. I said yes, but that sad part was that Mr. Montblanc would have to return to his homeland after the 90 days were up.

So we tearfully depart and spent another several months apart laboring over a seemingly endless steam of paperwork to get him legal residency in the United States. The process had us both under a lot of duress, but we pulled through and now Mr. Montblanc has his green card (yay) and we are married with even more cats and an additional dog (...yay).

People often try to say that online / long-distance relationships don't work. That may be true more often than not, but they definitely can work.

Didn't meet him in FFXIV, it happened in WoW. I was healing dungeons to level, he was tanking dungeons to level and the Dungeon Finder tool paired us multiple times. Turned out we were on the same realm so we added each other and started playing together and talked outside the game as well. A few years later we moved on from WoW to this game, although nowadays he doesn't play much. I've known him for 7 years now and we are happily living together in my country.
