    I think they really need to either throw in some more open world content, boss rushes, or challenges that are unattached to the weekly gear grind that make use of the game's combat. We've got a lot of recyclable content in crafting/gathering/housing, chocobo racing, triple triad etc but none of it is related to actually making use of your gear for something.

    Gear shouldn't just be used to make clearing already cleared content faster (or making the next patch's gear cycle trivial), instead, it should be used for things that are unrelated to those methods. Such as mentioned, Soloable boss rushes, challenge modes... But then why not some new ideas? Dynasty Warriors styled arenas or something like Pokemon Tournaments (except more 1v5 randomized encounters), Monster Hunter fights (hard but short fights for crafting ingredients) etc. Lots of other games out there to look at on how to make recyclable game modes for combat that are actually for the sake of fun instead of reward.

    Imo, content meant for grinding is almost never fun as it needs to be long enough to not to instantly gear up, it needs to be accessible so everyone can gear up properly.

    Yes, by all means, lets continue with the exact same things we've had from the very start. We'll slap a new name on the NPCs, maybe change around some of the colors of the mobs, eh? Just do the same stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over AND OVER AND OVER.

    I mean, hey, its worked for four years, right? Why change it? And if people are bored, well fuck them, let them unsub and go play other games. Brilliant. Absolutely marvelous.

    Ok, next expansion will make XIV an ARPG, cuz thats all new, and no rehashing. The game will rely now instead of memorization, on strict reaction speeds, and if you are just a tiny bit off, you die. Then the forums can explode with OMG WHY DID YOU MAKE IT DIFFERENT WE LIKED IT THE WAY IT WAS posts.

    Cap your tomestones, do your Omega or Alex or Snarf or whatever raid, get your cranks and shafts and bolts in the same order that you did as the last expansion and get your weekly gear and hoard 1000 tomes for a weapon in 7 weeks just like last expansion and wait for Eureka (which for the love of fuck please don't let it be like Diadem), just do the same thing you did last expansion with a few new mobs here and there but mostly reskinned ones and hey, its worked before why change it now?

    I'm bored because I already know exactly what I'm going to be doing for the next two years and its basically the exact same thing I've done for the last two years. And I don't think I'm the only player that feels this way.

Those are all I can list off the top of my head, but thats far from adding "nothing" aside from raids and primals. Speaking of said content, lots of said content which tried to be"unique" and "different" failed miserably and was an entirely huge waste of time and resources on their part. So here comes Eureka soon, which apparently is going to be this huge new thing. Which I question because there is a trend where they try and do something different, that everyone ends up hating it.

    Diadem was a disaster, entirely too much effort for little to no reward depending on your RNG. Chocobo Racing, is there even a point to this? Gold Saucer isn't exactly engaging content with interesting rewards. Palace was wildly successful, even if it is just used as a grindfest for leveling alt jobs. Crafting and Gathering are their own little world as far as I'm concerned. I do a bit of both, and for what it is I enjoy it.

    I'm not talking about mini-games. I'm talking about end game content and repeating that same content in the same pattern for the next two years which if what we've seen so far is any indication of the remainder of SB, is exactly whats going to happen. I can plan my entire expansion gameplay out right now without even seeing the future patches, because they are going to release the same content in the same pattern again.

    What one finds boring, another will not. Different strokes for different blokes.

    Considering varying tastes in everything across all demographics, you can't really ask that without an answer that ends up ranging from "Last month" to "Not in the foreseeable future".

    I'm going on 7 years and I'm still pretty happy with it. They have introduced new content. Its not always the same old rehashed things. You know what people did? Ignored what didn't get them best in slot gear.

    Ah. Then yes you best move along- endgame wont be changing and I personally love the design for endgame. So we don't agree there.

    We do need more meaningful endgame PVE content though. Just not serious raiding content.
