Main Screen. Is it an oversight?

A friend recently purchased the full game and is blind to the story. But the title screen is automatically Stormblood. I also recall buying Heavensward and though I'd finished the story, if one chooses to watch the FMV, heavy story spoilers.

Was this an oversight or was there no clear workaround? SB's FMV isn't too bad since if you don't know the lady in red, MNK of Light could be fighting anyone. But HW though...

IIRC, WoW does the same; it shows the latest expansion you have installed. It's not a bug/oversight.

I agree that it's annoying. I had a friend start in late HW and had to make him promise he would avoid letting the trailer autoplay while logging in. Somehow, he managed it and is now caught up. Other friends were less lucky during the ARR-HW transition.

Personally I just want the option to select which login screen I want, since I don't really like the SB one. A randomizer option would be cool, too.

My friend has 2 accounts. One has SB the other does not and only ARR so that one ARR plays on the same PC.

Game probably just references a video file for the given xpac depending on whichever highest they have unlocked on the account.

You need to be afk on the main menu screen for it to trigger... so, the way to avoid spoil is quite an obvious answer here.

It shows the latest expansion that you have active. Nothing related to how far any character has personally progressed.
You CAN see the old opening videos from the option on the title screen. But you cannot change the title screen and default video.

The problem is how intense the spoilers are in the Expac CG's, so being able to keep it even with your avatar or simply choosing which start-up you want would resolve that.

One thing to note is PS4, if you suspend the game to watch Hulu/Youtube/ something, open the PSN store, basically anything, automatically starts on the CG upon reopening FFXIV, skipping the start screen entirely.
