Currently for DoL abilities they activate at random every so often when they are equipped. I've not figured out how random this is but that's irrelevant. I'm proposing a new method of using these.
Take away the randomness. Allow players to activate abilities when they choose. Put them on reasonable timers of 20 minutes or so and then a rank 40+ should be able to use an ability every other node or so.
Even better, add new abilities that can be used once rather than for the entire node. For example to make your next dig easier to dig up. These would need to be balanced with timers too.
Current abilities should be tweaked too, such as the ones that are meant to increase crystals given. It's probably a mis-translation right now but why not change it to actually give crystals? It will hardly break anything. King's Yield should also have a small chance of giving multiples in digs that are capped at 1 too such as gold sand.
The bottom line is, make DoL more interactive like crafting is. Make it more than just aiming for sweetspots. There's so much SE could do like this to make DoL more fun, it seems like little thought was put into DoL once the basics were developed.
